D&D 5E What single new class would you like to see?

maybe a gadgeteer? Not exactly a classic fantasy trope, but could be fun, especially if someone wanted to do a steampunk port.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I'd like to see someone try a steampunk port of 5E. Idea for a future issue of En5ider?

I know this sounds weird, but what if vampire was a class? It's an affliction that can affect any race and in many media gives a whole slew of abilities so to me it makes more sense to model vampirism as a class than a race. Mechanically it could have half of the progression of a warlock's spellcasting while having some martial goodies (weapon + armor proficiencies, an extra attack, etc.). Subclasses could include Charming with a focus on enchanting, Bestial with a focus on shapeshifting, and Sanguine with a focus on blood magic type effects.

My more traditional pick would be a dedicated summoner where all the power is in the creatures you summon while the character them self is pretty lack luster.

A ninja is like a rogue but better in every way.

Sort of like how a katana is better in every way than a longsword.

Right?

RIGHT?!?!?!?!
I would like to play a class called a "katana", which is actually just an animated katana, and would automatically make me better than everything.

we could also look at mecanics what are things we might consider missing.

We have seen some sub classes that have a minion like the beastmaster ranger and the pact of tha chain warlock.
But having a minion was always something that was tagged onto a class, so it might be interesting to see a class that has having a minion as it's main focus.

Where the class gives the mecanics for usinf the minion(s) and the subclass determins what minions are availible to you.

Wrong. Because I am playing a class called "Dual Wielded Katanas," which is just two animated Katanas, and that automatically makes me cooler and better than the single Katana. Because reasons, and movies.
Fah! Everyone knows that real samurai only used a single katana, or a combination of a single katana and a shorter blade, called a wakizashi, in various techniques called....
<20 page diatribe about how things REALLY worked in Japan because I'm an expert because I watched a lot of anime and read some internet articles>
...and that's why your idea sucks, and is unrealistic!

Yeah, well, I would like to know, first of all, why you are trying to remove player agency? Not just that, you're going against the whole tradition of D&D, up to and including the most awesomest things ever, like Drizz't, which is when D&D history began. Finally, are you possibly arguing that in a world of DRAGONS and FIREBALLS it is inconceivable that it is possible to practice nito with two katanas? I deny your expertise in anime, and call upon {30 page rant with, inter alia, Hatsu from Tower of God}.

In closing, {link to youtube video of person dual wielding}, {link to youtube video of General Grievous}.
In the spirit of compromise, I suggest a single "katana" class, with multiple subclasses for single katanas, double katanas, katana and wakizashi combo, and 4 katanas for Thri-Kreen/General Grievous clones. As we all know, all playstyle differences can be papered over if we just add enough subclasses.

Definitely. But there would need to be an Eldritch Katana class as well.

My Katana casts Green Flame Katana and Booming Katana as cantrips.

Plus, it follows the WoTC rule that all classes get access to spells.
Makes perfect sense. If you don't have spells, you're not really playing D&D.
