D&D 5E Why Forums Should Be Ignored By Game Developers

Some forums might be better than others for the designers to pay attention to. For instance, the diablo 3 forums tend to be filled with hate spewing individuals who for some reason still play a game that they can't stand. Meanwhile, the rest of jump on from time to time, have a blast, then move on with our lives.

On this site, I'd say that there have been some very good threads that the designers may want to at least read through. The ones I have in mind being the discussions on each of the UA articles. Although I assume many of these thoughts get reproduced in the surveys, they might still be useful to read through in addition.

Well, he does put a fair bit of effort into his threads and posts new threads almost on a schedule like he would to a blog, so I'm not surprised that he plans out a bit into the future.

Indeed, good posters should make observations.

I tend to have multiple such observations at a time. I make threads for all of them as they come to me, and wind up forgetting half of the threads, due to having actual conversation in one above the others. Not very conducive to the kind of discussion I assume Zard wants out of these threads.

After browsing this forum . the 5th edition one - I guess most of the people posting are not just players, but Dungeon Masters.
From what I can tell, most here are (or would be, if they could be) both.

Result: the voice of players-only isn't heard much here, which is a shame as (anecdotally) the player-only sees the game quite a bit differently than the player-DM or just-DM.
