Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: What's up next?

Are they gonna do rangers again, or skip ahead to rogues? Because they just did that nifty job with the revised ranger a few months back.

Not much on my ranger wishlist right now. Maybe an update on the 4e warden --- a defender / tank specializing in partial transformations. Pretty similar vibe to a Ancients Pact paladin, though. I suppose the 4e seeker could be an inspiration for a sort of primal version of the arcane archer archetype.

For rogues, I'd like to see a full thief-acrobat with some wicked awesome parkour moves. I'd also like some sort of "adventurer" build to model guys with some rare combination of luck, destiny, and quick wits which allows them to survive the lifestyle despite a lack of more defined set of talents --- your Frodos and fairy tale peasant heroes and such.

Rogue is one of the best supported classes already, thanks to Mastermind and Swashbuckler in SCAG, so I'm not wholly certain what else there could be. A "forest rogue" would be a Ranger, and a "divine rogue" seems like just mashing words together rather than a strong idea. Perhaps something Fey themed might work, but that might just be because I've been thinking about the Fey in Volo's Guide lately...

While I admit that the old thief-acrobat was one of my favorites from way back, the same thing can be achieved by burning an Expertise slot on your Acrobatics skill IMO.

I don't expect Ranger, but I don't expect any Rogue stuff either. The swashbuckler was covered in an earlier UA and made its way into SCAG. What other Rogue archetypes need to be covered. I'm really asking, cuz I don't know. Oh, yeah - I forgot Mastermind too.

Maybe a ninja-assassin type. The shadow monk doesn't feel ninja-y enough for me.

Definitely ranger were missing a decent spell less variant.Real rangers don't cast

They've stated that they're not going to do a spelless Ranger on the Ranger chasis: the Scout archetype for Fighter is how that will manifest in the future, per mearls on Twitter and on the UA follow-ups. Rangers, as the Ranger class, will have spells; the variant from that earlier UA is not being revisited.
