Probably for the best.

... The logical inference would be that you disapprove of the thread and are attempting to make specifically-inflammatory posts which do not actually refer to or discuss the topic, only other posters, in the hopes of causing the thread to be shut down because you don't want other people discussing this thing that they're interested in.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just not read the thread?

I don't think any non-concentration spells that have a longer duration are problematic. RAW or RAI should allow them even at a table that thinks a spell slot can not be recovered for a spell that is being held in concentration.

Now that you bring up the Sorceror's extended spell, that does show how recovering spell slots on a short rest could cause issue with a multiclass sorc/warlock who may want to cast a extended summoning spell with a one hour duration (extended to two hours) and then short rest every other hour to keep it going while not using a spell slot.

I think 5E did a good job of not promoting the 5 minute work day with limiting long rests and having concentration spells. As a DM, I would prefer to try to avoid issues where the best options involve trying to exploit the rules.

Do you notice that depending on how you rule the whole rest and recovering spell slots because "warlocks" has some impact on other features? I would assume most of the examples of non-concentration long duration spells I can pick from the spell list will be deemed "not problematic". Nonetheless, denying someone from recovering a spell slot on the grounds of "your magic energy is still invested somewhere else" might cause problems where there were none. The multiclass sorcerer/warlock may even prove more challenging, as they could, later in the day, break a warlock spell slot for some sorcery points and then short-rest to recover the spell slot afterwards. Now, what happens? Should the sorcery points be lost because the spell slot was recovered?

The RAW status is that there is nothing directly and explicitly preventing a warlock from concentrating through a short rest, but there are peripheral rules that could be interpreted as vague prohibitions - and many people see these prohibitions as sufficient to create the barrier to concentrating through a rest. To me, that means there is room for a DM rule however they want until such time as we get a statement from someone at WotC settling the matter. Do as you like. If there is disagreement in your group, the DM decides (as always). There is no real point to discussing this further and you're better off typing requests to WotC to give us clarity on the rules than continuing this pointless debate.

I don't mean to paint all Warlock players (or for that matter, Power Gamers) with one brush, but in my experience, the only people who fight for the most-generous ruling here (that you have Hex going all the time with all your slots and anything less is nerfing the Warlock)... like to play Warlocks (or worse, Warlock dips) because the result is overpowered?

I love warlocks, favorite class hands down, and I'm on the 'nope' side.

Not really.
