A discussion has a topic. It doesn't need to have "sides". That's what an argument is. It's true that a discussion CAN cover the subject of opposition, but it really doesn't have to.

What I am saying is that in this medium... someone is free to voice the side of opposition to a view if they want to. Hypothetically we could all potentially agree with a single view and you're right there would be no opposition... but how likely is that to happen? We (the general we here) differ in our views, and this is an open (as long as you follow the rules) forum for discussing them as they pertain to D&D...

Yes but discussion means two sides... if you start a discussion about warlords those who don't want resources, page count, etc. Wasted on something they don't care about or feel the game has already addressed have the same right to voice their view and reasons as those who do want it.

No, what you're describing is trolling, not discussion.

And it's pretty much inevitable that WotC will "waste" resources, page count, etc. on something you don't like. You not liking something is no reason for it to not exist.

It's reason for me to push for something I would find useful or like and push against something I have no use for. At the end of the day WotC will decide and I'll vote with my wallet but until they make that decision I have every right to state if I do or don't like/have use for/want something they may devote resources to.

It's a deeper question than that. Not only would WOTC have to consider that a Warlord would only sell to about ~25% of their customer base, they'd also have to consider what percentage of players would immediately quit playing 5th edition were it introduced. The Warlord embodies all of the things that caused people to drop 4th edition, implementing the Warlord in 5th edition is certain to cause some number of players to see it as a signal that they're returning to 4th edition and immediately leave.

I realize it's the elephant in the room that no one here wants to talk about, but it absolutely is a consideration at WOTC, they are a business after all.

Exactly. i mentioned this in another thread that I cannot really blame WotC for punting on this. Every single time this topic comes up, it's extremely contentious. People have proven that they will go to great lengths to voice their discontent, not on the class itself, but, on the very existence of the class at all. After spending the last few years building up the level of goodwill that WotC has managed to claw back after 4e, I can totally understand why they'd be very reluctant to open this can of worms again.

It's just not worth it.

So, those who don't want a Warlord, rejoice. There is virtually zero chance that WotC will put out a warlord so long as this level of contention remains.

Well if you are using a discussion board to state what you want from a company... you should expect those who don't want said thing to comment as well.

Well, we should accept trolling? No, thanks.

Because in a perfect world with unlimited resources and books of unlimited page count and that cost nothing to publish... we would all get what we want, but enough of us know that's not the case... a warlord class being created has an opportunity cost associated with it and unlike 3e or 4e... 5e's publishing schedule is limited and there is enough in the game for many that hasn't been fleshed out or given attention that warlord is just low on their list of wants for 5e. That's the case for me, it's not that I am against a warlord but there are way more other things I'd rather they devote resources to at this point in the games lifecycle especially with the limited number of published products we've gotten so far...

It's pretty much inevitable that WotC will "waste" resources, page count, etc. on something you don't like. You not liking something is no reason for it to not exist.

There was no faulty conclusion drawn...I am stating what the poll is showing nothing less nothing more. We can conjecture about the future and hypotheticals all we want but I am talking about this poll in this thread. I mean by your logic the exact opposite could also happen some of these warlord fans could be put off by WotC's official version and then it might sell even less.

Yes, there is a faulty conclusion being drawn. You're lumping that that don't care in with those that are opposed to it—and that's bollocks.

This didn't answer my question, which is fine but then if you want to rant on a discussion board about something... expect those who don't hold your views to rant back.

I don't see people saying that they want a warlord class as ranting or starting an argument.

Did someone tell you that you weren't allowed to discuss not wanting a Warlord? (I can believe that happened, but it wasn't me.)

You got into a conversation with me when I was defending people's right to talk about wanting a Warlord. I don't know how you managed to spin my assertion that people should be free to discuss whatever they like to it's opposite in under three posts!

You have a right to troll others?

I'm not saying they can't talk about warlords... where did I say that?
