D&D 5E Dwimmermount [IC]

With some lucky shots the heroes are able to down three of the retreating wolves before they make good their escape… but two managed to race over the nearby hills and disappear from sight!!! Lucious is able to skin the five wolf pelts without much trouble and they appear whole and in good shape. With the four goblin heads also, the group has a good start on their bounties…

GM: OK so Corwin killed Wolf 6 with his shortbow
Megan did get an AOO verses Wolf 3, bring it down to 1 HP and then killed it on his next round with a crossbow bolt.
Then the last round he can Megan shots wolf 4 dealing 11 damage to kill it.
So wolves 1 and 2 disappeared over the hills before suffering any additional attacks.

Sorry I missed up my count of dead wolves somehow. You killed 4 in this group plus the first one so you got 5 wolves and 4 goblins. Sorry somehow I was WAY off and two of the wolves still escaped (one was at full hit points)

Lucious arises from his dirty business, hands covered in the blood of his enemies. As he wipes off the dagger he says, "Although my appearance and stench would never bother me nor those of my tribe, I have been made aware of the sensitive nature of some peoples noses on the surface. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, I require a bath." he say begrudgingly.

Hunter let out a hearty laugh after Lucious finished speaking, “And hopefully we will get you one short enough.” Hunter slapped him gently on the shoulder and turned to the group.

“I think Magen is right we should spend a few minutes to right ourselves before we head back for the night.” Hunter rolled one of his shoulders and tried to stretch his side, “I know I could use a good night sleep behind some walls.”

Hunter’s smile faded slightly, “We should probably check the homestead first however.”

"A rest sounds good," Shara says.

Her companions now gathered, she looks around at their fresh wounds, and her expression turns apologetic. "I wish I could heal all of you, but I should save what little ability is left in case there's more trouble. I hope a rest, at least, will help you."

She nods in agreement when Hunter mentions the homestead. "Let's all go together this time, though."

Hunter peeked into the old homestead and could tell that it had been abandoned for some time. The goblins had been camping here for a few days and he saw their flea ridden bedrolls laid out near a cold firepit. There were half eaten bones shattered about along with some shoddy looking leather bags with fat black bugs flying around them. Inside were two fairly fresh human skulls and an assortment of gold and silver coins. All told 36 silver and 5 gold pieces.

Once they confirm the farmhouse is safe, Shara wanders out to find a comfortable spot in the sun. She drops her pack on the ground and lays down, using it as a pillow.

With the panic of the fight now past, she finds herself more exhausted than she expected to, and drifts easily to sleep.

"No need to waste your gifts on me," Lucious says as he pours water on some dirt and smears the mud on his wounds. He looks at Shara "See, all better."

Hunter put the gold and silver pieces on a rock by the fire and reclosed the bags. “I think I’ve found the heads to our newlyweds,” he says solemnly as he takes a seat on the ground.

“Hey I know, we didn’t kill all the wolves and we took a bit of a hit today, but we will go back get some rest and come back tomorrow. We will rid this territory of these monsters and it will be safe to live here again.” Hunter grinned as he began to lay down, “This isn’t the end, it is just the beginning.”

OOC:

"As much as I would like the comforts of walls, bed and city; I cannot advocate returning for the day. We have done well, but if we retreat to the city, we will waste a generous portion of the following day returning to where we are now. Since this homestead appears abandoned, I say we fortify it as best we can and use it as a base of sorts for the time being. I have seen enough carnage today for an entire lifetime, but it doesn't make me want to stop and take a break, it makes me want to find the bastards and shred them into a mere paste."

OOC: Short Rest: Arcane recover, regain 1 spell slot, current total 1

Wincing slightly, Hunter sat up and looked at older mage, “I hear you my friend, and I would like nothing better to cast these foul beasts from this world, but I will be honest with you, I’m near my limits.”

Hunter’s face changed from a grimace to a slight smile, “And I may be wrong here, but I don’t think anyone was talking about going all the way back to the city. My thought was that we would head back to Hiddell’s ranch and rest for the night, and hopefully get a bath for our, . . .ripe smelling companion.”

Hunter rolled his neck and a slight crack of his joints sounded, “But if you would rather us fortify our position here and try to rest for the night, I say we put it up for a vote. And while I understand your position, I must say I vote for retreating back behind the walls of Hiddell’s compound for the night, we are no use to anyone dead.”
