Thank you for creating the character sheet, it is fantastic.

I think I have discovered an error in the weight carried calculation in version v12-998 (I believe it was there before as well), where sometimes it is double counting equipment. I think I have it pinned down to the "All three of the above" option under the "Add Equipment" button at the bottom of the equipment page. The error seems to only occur if you use the "All three of the above" option to add armor or a weapon from the first page after previously using one of the auto-fill options from the menu.

To reproduce easily, create a blank character and choose a background (e.g. hermit). Go to the equipment page and click on the "Add Equipment" button then "Hermit's Items and Gold" (or whatever other background you chose). Go to the first page and add armor and/or a weapon attack. Then go to the equipment page and click on "Add Equipment" then "All three of the above". While it will add in the armor/weapons from the first page correctly, it will double the weight of the equipment that was already on the list (and double your gold).

The "All three of the above" seems to be key... it doesn't occur with the other options.

Thanks and let me know if I can provide any additional information.
So what you are saying is that when you ask the sheet to add the background equipment twice, you are surprised that it is added twice? This is not a bug. You will see that all the equipment is there two times, and that is why the weight calculation is also doubled, because that is exactly what is supposed to happen.

When you click "All three of the above" you are asking the sheet to add the background equipment, the weapons, and the armour from the first page. Every time you do that, the sheet will add the background equipment, even if you added the background equipment before. What you are looking for is the option "Just two of the above" which adds only the armour and weapons.

There is an error in the description of the Elf Trance trait:

PHB 2014 edition states:

Trance. Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they
meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4
hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation
is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a
fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that
have become reflexive through years o f practice. After
resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a
human does from 8 hours of sleep.

However, the auto-text generation in the character sheet says:

Trance: Elves don't need to sleep, but meditate semiconsciously, for 4 hours a day. While meditating, I can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, I gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep, but I still need 8 hours for a long rest.
I'm sorry, but what is wrong with the text on the sheet? I had to make it shorter to make it fit, so it is not a literal copy (nothing on the sheet is). Other than that, I can't see what could be wrong with it. Could you please be more specific?

EDIT: Maybe you are referring to the last sentence, here is the official ruling on that: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/rules-answers-september-2015

So what you are saying ...

When you put it like that :)
I understand now what the sheet is trying to do. I am pretty sure that I ran into some cases where this duplicated background equipment was being counted in weight but the item count in the inventory list was not visibly incremented. However, my simple case above does not demonstrate any incorrect behavior. along these lines I'll do some more testing when I get home and see if I can reproduce and provide more details.
Thanks

Both are taken down, but still available on DMs Guild if you bought them previously. If you are interested in the Printer-Friendly version, send me a direct message :)

Just out of curiosity do you know if this means those of us who purchased on DMsGuild are "locked" to 12.998 as our final version or do they allow you to update for us who already purchased? Will there be a system in place that we can get future releases (assuming WotC doesn't C&D you completely) if they don't?

I don't know, only the future will tell when I try to update it there.

Hey, big fan of the purple sheet. So with Wizards putting the kibosh on the sheet, are you planning on doing more updates or moving where we download the sheet somewhere else?

I was waiting for Xanathar's Guide to come out before updating my version, since none of my PCs have advanced in level since the last version.

It may be that it is importing text into the sheet that is the stumbling block, alongside asking for a contribution of funds. A sheet that just imports headers and mathematical formulas might not be viewed so seriously, since the rule books are clearly still needed for the game. I'd willingly add my own text to class features, feats, and magical items but the spells lists and summaries are invaluable.
