After, the injuries Raven Elk took against the others, he decides to hang with Taylar. Not being archers, he figured the foot soldiers in the group might do best by working together.

Also, while Raven Elk waits with Taylar for Vittero's signal, he thinks on the sensations and impressions he received from the little vole.

He was beginning to realize that it was only cognizance, tool-making and language, with its myriad interpretations that seperated the Peoples of the world from a simple animal as the vole.

Through Ma's tutelage, he had known the truth of this; but, the encounter with the vole, seemingly insignificant creature that it may seem, drove home the truth and reality of Life --- all Life.

Ma always talked about the All Mother and how she was the concubine, maybe even wife (?), of the Father, or Great Spirit; but now, he believed in what she spoke.

Taylar nods at Vittero's plan and sets out to find a good position to hide. He says with a grin to Raven Elk close by, "Don't forget a battle cry. It will frighten and confuse them."

Raven Elk responds to Taylar's comment:

"Fine. And this time, let's fight back to back like we used to when we played King of the Hill as kids. We kept Adi, Maka and 'Tero off until they finally gave up;", Raven Elk then gives a wicked smirk at Taylar, "but, this time, let's not turn on each other in the end, so we can win this thing together --- and with the least amount of injury, eh? We didn't do so hot the last time.", he adds, remembering the battle with the Nashurins.

Adi comments. "I would also like to practice my skills at sneaking. If someone could distract them, Taylar and I could flank from different sides."

[sblock=Stealth]Effectiveness:
  • Inversion (Collegiate Task) +
  • Body + Motility +
  • Commercial + d100
This active task is applied when attempting to obscure oneself from view or to dampen and, ultimately prevent sound while moving.
Adisakti: 12(inversion) + 22(stealth) + 81(d100) = 115
Raven Elk: 18(inversion) + 15(stealth) + 95(d100) + 90(luck) = 218
Taylar: 16(inversion) + 16(stealth) + 66(d100) = 98[/sblock]
GM: Being much larger than Raven Elk, Taylar has more difficulty hiding. Luck is on Raven Elk's side. He seems to blend into the forest. Adisakti takes a hidden position on the opposite side of Vittero from Taylar and Raven Elk.

Maka will go with Adi, his bow at the ready, staying about 3 paces to Adi’s left.

OOC: Die roll: 94. Is that high enough for luck bonus roll? If so, bonus = 77.

Day 217: Engaging the Kaalatala

OOC: GM NOTE:
While the vocabulary may not yet be known, the mechanics for calculating tasks are very uniform:
  • Combat Task = Combat Skill + Commercial Skill + Collegiate Skill + d100
  • Commercial Task = Commercial Skill + Collegiate Skill + d100
  • Collegiate Task = Collegiate Skill + d100
Collegiate tasks may be augmented, only, by the use of affinity conduits, items that are destroyed in the process of instantly increasing a Bender's skill for a single application.

GM: With the declaration of Maka's placement in relation to Adisakti, this will put Maka and Adi on Vittero's left, so that Raven and Taylar will need to be on his right.

Vittero who has not been trying to hide but has been moving quietly, signals the start of combat by actually starting it. The sound of his released arrow is enough.
[sblock=Fire Bow]Vittero: 16(launch) + 17(precision) + 17(clarity) + 70(d100) = 120 + 50(short range) = 170
Avoid Arrow: Kaalatala: 17(preservation) + 13(konokoro) + 43(d100) = 73
Damage: 170 - 73 = 97% * 10 = 10
Body: 10 - 10 = 0: incapacitated[/sblock]
GM: Vittero's arrow flies at the twanging of the bowstring. It flies true, plunging into the abdomen of the nearest Kaalatala, incapacitating him. At that point, everyone else initiates action. The second Kaalatala standing next to the one who was shot, immediately charges toward Vittero. All others ready themselves.

OOC: Though the rest of the crew is hidden, I will still need to determine sequencing. Adi make like to use his d100 = 82, but Maka will likely want to save that first lucky roll for his actual attack. Everyone make a post for intended actions. Post d100 rolls in an OOC box if you want to make your own. If not, I will readily make all appropriate rolls.

Maka will move 1 more square directly North, before firing his bow at this guy:

OOC: Maka's natural Initiative roll: 89 (Mulligan = 98)

Raven Elk whispers back to Taylar:

"Let's get these ones on the right.", he then smirks with a wicked glint in his eyes, "Whooping and Hollering, eh?" Well, okay then..."

OOC: Thank God for Mr. Mulligan! 29 = 92.
