What are you Reading? May 2018 edition

It’s May now, and I’ve just finished Winter’s Heart, the latest in my Wheel of Time read. This one was good, with stuff happening throughout the books. A bunch of the stuff that had been in the works for the last two books came do, and kept the pace hopping.

Though, I’m starting to wonder just when the last time I saw a Trolloc in the pages was. For such an early threat, they’ve been absent for some time now. And whatever happened to Loial, the Ogier?

Now it’s break time with Patricia A. McKillip’s The Riddle-Master of Hed. Really loved The Forgotten Beasts of Eld, so I’m quite excited to read another of her books.

Eld like in the Dark Tower?

I'm reading a time travel novel by Robert Silverberg called Up the Line. He must have written it during an extended episode of extreme horniness, because there's a ton more sex than is needed to tell the story. Like, scads more.

On Thursday, I'm going to be starting Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. Next Monday, Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

I have started (about six months ago, or so) doing live reading streams on Twitch, of these books that I've been mentioning in the "What Are you Reading Now" posts. It has been an excellent fun time.

Currently reading "Walking on Glass" by Iain Banks, which is weird. I think I like it, but I'm not entirely sure.

Also reading through "O.L.D." by... some guy (finally - it's been on my "to read" pile for a very long time) .

Lastly, I've been reading "The Hobbit" to my daughter since about a week after she was born. Should finish up this weekend - took us a long time to get past Bilbo's confrontation with Smaug.

Finished The Riddle-Master of Hed. It was a book of lyrical, mythic beauty.

Now I’m reading Adam Parfrey’s and Cletus Nelson’s Citizen Keane: The Big Lies Behind the Big Eyes, about Margaret and Walter Keane. With Adam Parfrey’s death last week, it seemed appropriate to finally do so.

Riddlemaster of Hed is sitting on my nightstand to be read. Picked it up used on a recommendation and just haven't gotten around to it.

I see that you liked it, I'll bump it up my list.

It's good. I'd say The Forgotten Beasts of Eld is better, but that book was darn near perfect, so it's little slight to Riddle-Master.
