After Waterdeep what should be the next FR adventure?

Yeah, for Mindflayer stuff, I expect there to be a Firestorm Peak inspired storyline at some point, considering the multiple hi ts toward that. But who knows when they might do it, rather than sow more hints.
Well, yeah. But there's loads of references to dozens of past adventures. It's hard to tell what's just an Easter Egg for the fans and what's a clue for future stories.

As the first reference to the Far Realm Gates of Firestorm Peak are going to come up in a few aberration's entries. However, it's mostly a duergar adventure before things get Lovecraftian with gibbering mouthers, mutated humanoids, deep spawn, and some unique beasties. Not a lot of Mind Flayers.

I imagine it might be part of a multi-module mash-up, like Tomb of Annihilation*, where it's combined with a couple other classic ideas into something new.

*ToA being a combination of Isle of Dread, Dwellers of the Forbidden City, and Tomb of Horrors.

I’m guessing they will release an epic tier throw down that links all the previous adventures that stopped at level 15.
The “Great Old One” rises unexpectedly from his slumber to challenge all of creation. A call is put out to all high level adventures to cross the planes and challenge him.

I don't watch Dragon Talk or follow any source of news other than EN World, for the most part, so am just going on hunches rather than hints. But the whole Dalelands/Cormyr/Sembia/Anauroch region has been (curiously?) untouched, so seems ripe for coverage. You've got Myth Drannor, the Zhentarim, and can fold in the Red Wizards if you want - and of course Shadowdale is the iconic Realms starting point. That might also be a nice opportunity to get Ed Greenwood involved.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see something more desert-flavored, whether Calimshan, Raurin, or Zakhara.

What I think it is safe to say that we won't see is something Sword Coast related. They've covered the region extensively and it is time to move.

I'm also not convinced that we'll even see another Realms story arc next. As some have said, maybe they use it as a jumping off point for the planes and/or Spelljammer. How about a two-part story arc, with the first being lower level in the Dalelands region and the second part being higher level and into space/the planes?

What will we see? I have no idea. The only thing I would venture to guess is that they will continue to package an adventure with gazetteer style details on the adventure setting.

What would I like to see? Something other than the Sword Coast and the North, even if its Amn-Tethyr-Calimshan. The Sea of Fallen Stars would be awesome, but since my next campaign starts in Cormyr, it will likely be too little, too late for me to make use of.

Shadow Ground - The pcs help local farmers out to protect their farms. Pick your villain and season begins winter. A level 1 -4 hard cover.
Thin Air- The pcs climb to the top of mountain in search of wisdom Only to be told by wise one "dude smart people don't climb mountains but use air mail"
Hot Fire, the pcs are hired as firemen against evil fire elementals. One pc is chosen to have burning passion for the npc.

No idea.

In the precedence of PotA, CoS, SGT, and ToA I would say a remash could be coming of some older module or at least the ideas. It could be Slave Lords, it could be something else.

I don't know what it should be, and I can understand the Forgotten Realms fatigue among fans, but I would love a CoS-like sandbox adventure in Rashemen, with incursions into Thay, Narfell, and the endless wastes.

Bonus points if the red wizards are not the main villains, just a bunch of :):):):):):):)s that can swing one way or another (including among each other) during the adventure.
