The hint us extremely vague: he doesn't say what aspects of CoS are related to what he is working on. Dragonlance would work with what he laid down, as would something with a similar structure in terms of sandbox play.

As would something with a horror theme, debate is pointless as of now.

Pointless, but fun: the main thing is not to assume too much, and leave the possibilities open.

Based on previous hints and bits, a Mindflayets Vs. Gith AP is something they seem to have in the pipeline, so that is my main guess, with a spooky old school vibe Perkins sees as similar to Strahd. But other strong contenders remain, such as a Dragonlance reprint.

Gaming is fun, and fun is for everyone
Yes, Vecna can be used in a good story of supernatural conspirations, but it would need a good author. Maybe Hasbro could ask help to scripters hired by Universal Studios.

Vecna as god is a boring antagonist, too secret and hidden. Vecna could fake his own "death" to become a vestige, or to by Asmodeus spy. Or Azalin could become the "host" of a Vecna "spark".

From a lore perspective, makes no sense that Vecna would abandon godhood.

From a writing perspective, if you need an antagonist that fills the niche you seem to want, Vecna is not a good fit.

Also why would Hasbro hire scriptors from Universal Studios? It's not like movies like Bumblebee have good scripts; hire people from DMsguild that actually know how to write adventures. Or most obviously, just let Chris Perkins write it.

Not necessarily. They've hinted that Lantan will be in an upcoming adventure (which had led to speculation of "Spelljammer campaign that starts in Lantan" both here and elsewhere). And Lantan is that rarest of rare beasts, a large area close to the most heavily covered regions of the Forgotten Realms that has never been covered outside a few scattered sentences in a handful of products over the last 30 years. Basically, all that has ever been revealed about it, outside the names and positions of the towns on the islands on the various maps of the setting, is that they are fairly mechanically inclined, mainly worship Gond, and have a sizeable gnome population. Honestly (to go back the Spelljammer theme), we know far more about the other planets in Toril's solar system than we do about Lantan...
I love Lantan for that reason.

In my current campaign the heroes are in Abeir, which is also where Lantan has been for the last 100 years or so, andtheyve come to Lantan. How I’ve described the port city they came to (also named Lantan) is that the city is structured much like an amphitheater with enormous towers of scaling height around the outside of the bowl, and the center pointing toward the harbor. The harbor has giant chains on geared mechanism kept magically unrusted, allow the city to close the harbor.

The towers are “scaling” in that they increase in height incrementally as the go counter clockwise from the right hand side as you come into port. They resemble the pipes of a pipe organ.

We agree we nothing, or not enough, about these future projects, but we are here talking because we like to share our ideas, theories and speculations. I also like to tell my crazy suggestions.

The first step for the return of Dragonlance will be the remade of the modules, but nothing about the 5th age will be told.

Ravenloft will come back, I warn we may see retcon about some details, or even a almost reboot. Maybe Azalin send more time-travelers to stop their previous agents and now the grand conjunction has got some different effects.

Ravenloft will be like mixing Silent Hill, other indie survival horror videogames and Game of Thrones.

Also we will see alliances with some dark lords against the main menace, Gwydion, darklord of the shadow rift, or against (infiltrated secret) agents of elder-brain of Bluespur. And some new domains, with abducted people from Eberron, but also from Innistrad.

Some ideas by authors from DM Guild could become canon, but we have to take care, if we don't want the lands of the mists become a Jurassic Park for undeads and gothic monsters.

(I hope these pictures help you as source of inspiration for your own stories).

No, it's going to be something people like about CoS that doesn't feature prominently in other properties. So, for example, we can deduce that it doesn't focus on Dragons, because he would have said "If you like Tyranny of Dragons..", it's not about Giants because "If you like Storm Kings Thunder...", It's not a mega-dungeon because "if you like Dungeon of the Mad Mage..." and so on.

You can also rule out Dragonlance because Chis is an "adventures" guy not a "rules" guy, and before you can do Dragonlance justice you need rules: Dragonlance specific races as a bare minuimum.
