D&D 5E I just watched Aladdin: Return of Jafar and I really want Al Qadim 5e

In 2e Clockwork Mages where wizards that did not cast spells, they made magical constructs instead. Tell me that doesn't scream 2e Artificer to you?
Sounds good.

Man, this makes me want to dig up my old Complete Sha'ir's Handbook and go over all the creative stuff they had...damn.

I’m working on a Holy Assassin, called the Covenant Agent Rogue. The Clockwork Engineer Specialization for Artificers would be a big work, but totally worth it. I think there is a Sha’ir on DMsGuild.

Between Clockwork Mage and Gnome/Lantanna Artificer Prestiage class, FR functionally had Artificers of some sort long before Eberron did, so those who suggest that Artificers should be for Eberron alone, are wrong, both Artificers functionally.

What about the other options for AQ?

Does anything do the Dervish justice? There is a ranger spell that feels good for the concept, but I know some will insist that no Spellcasting should ever be added to a non-casting concept. 🤷‍♂️

2E had an actual Artificer mage.

I understand you perfectly.

Well... Remember the 1996 tv action-live serie "adventures of Sinbad" now it is by Entertainment One, and by Hasbro. Dreamworks also produced a cartoon movie about Sinbad. And I loved the 1001 nights miniserie by BBC.

But I warn Kara-Tur will arrive before, because wuxia and manganime are more popular.

How would you create the reboot o sha'ir class, with its own game mechanics? Sometimes I miss a monster pet class as the summoner by Pathfinder. Why not a D&D summoner but incarnum soulmelds about monster traits? Like a totemist shaman with a "customizable" monster pet.

Any time have you imagined the akasha classes by Dreamscarred Press in al-Quadim?

Zakhara is a good place for genasis with genie ancestors. How will be the "game of thrones" among genies, daos and efreeti invanding prime material plane?

The living idols were canon in al-Qadim. Do you imagine them as pact vestiges? Something like the idolator, the hybrid pathfinder class by Total Party Kill games.

* I would bet somebody will want to use al-Qadim to create his own version of Assasin's Creed.

* I imagine the slayer or shadow assassin like stealth martial adepts, like the rogue but with martial maneuvers of the shadow hand school.

Where can I find a freemen who sells me spice from Arrakis?

And please, I don't want controversies about the religious cult of the god-emperor Leto II Atreides. We know he is, literally, a great worm, but we shouldn't offend freemen. They were victims by tyrannic Harkonen's oppression. Paul Atreides, the Muad'dib, was preaching a message peace and tolerance while his followers invaded their neighbour regions.

Disneys Alladin movies and TV series were some great game fodder and I’ve used quite a few ideas from the show, a new version of al-Qadim would be great too

Our Silver-selling adventure Midnight in the City of Brass draws heavily from the 2e Al-Qadim sourcebox Secrets of the Lamp, and in the next few weeks we will be releasing Adventures in the Land of Fate, a full 200+ page Zakharan campaign guide, in PDF and PoD.

If you click on my name (GM Lent) on the product page, you will also find our take on the Clockwork Mage, among other products.

Note that to bridge the gap between many 2e concepts and 5e's relative flexibility, we have reintroduced the option of character kits, which function much like backgrounds but for which a character must meet certain qualifications. In return, the character gains mild benefits and a new roleplaying hook.

We've presented three different constructions for a sha'ir (which is itself one of the kits, allowing any member of any class to hold the title and negotiate with genies). We have a genie-pact warlock, a genie-blood sorcerer, and a genie lore arcane tradition. The 2e sha'ir fluff works best as a warlock, but we provide other options for people who like other approaches.

Our general design guideline has been that restricting concepts to specific subclasses is restricting almost on the level 2e was, and we have tried to broaden the horizons a bit in response. And all of.our stuff undergoes pretty extensive playtesting before we put it out.
