D&D Movie/TV New D&D movie details? Vecna?!

This is the book for you:
Ah. I love voltaire. Also im not an optimist. You deduce correctly the percentage of my meaning which is written in black ink and green ink.
Do you realize that most people don't know anything about "dark elf' types or norse, germanic, and western mythology? I think you have your blinders on a bit.
BLASPHEMER

Yeah. That was actually the point. Im a cheeky bastard. People are dumb. My point is that their distress is equally dumb. If we ALWAYS limit ourselves by catering to them then society will get dumber and we will have a share of the blame. Some times it makes sense to restrain oneself. This is not one of those times.

Drow are drow. Black people are black people. Two seperate groups. Unrelated to eachother.

It has little to do with intelligence and more to do with ignorance. Western mythology is barely taught (if at all) in most of the world. Even in western countries there are hundreds of millions of people who are ignorant of the mythology. Heck, in the USA mythology is not a required class and I would bet 2/3 or more of the population would have no idea what your talking about. Your lucky if they know the greek gods. You can't expect someone to know what your talking about if they never been taught.
Mmmmm. I think this issue has to do with both levels of intelligence and ignorance. 100% certain of it.

Yes, originating on Oerth, with Vecna.

It's just irksome to see the World of Greyhawk being continuously strip-mined for all its cool toys, while the rest of it is left to rot in abandonment.
Yes. They take from greyhawk and place it in the realms. It’s not like the realms does not have enough lore as it is. And good lore too.

You do realise there will be very little actual FR in the movie? It will be GenericFantasyland with a couple of familiar names? There is neither the time nor the space in a movie for any significant worldbuilding.

I wouldnt jump there for just any reason.

I would in this scenario though.

They are elves. ELVES. Not even human.
How most of the world thinks of elves:
