Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Yes I was surprised by the outrage and criticism of relatively minor additions.

However I’m more interested in the lack of advocates (people who would rate 5 stars or the equivalent of 9 or 10 out of 10). There are substantially more advocates as a percentage in D&D reviews than in Pathfinder. I’m surprised as while I thought pathfinder would have a smaller fan base it would be more loyal.

Edition wars seem to have hit them hard.
Probably need to wait a bit to see how it shakes out. Newer products often have more negative reviews than positive. In 6 months to a year I would be interested in where it is. 5e has had 5 years to balance out those reviews. And there were a ton of early 1 star reviews for their inclusiveness as well.

Interesting that 60% give pathfinders core book 5 stars compared to 78% for 5e phb

For PF2, there's a number of folks who rated it as 1-Star because the shipping method bent the cover.

I've not read through the 5e reviews to see if there's some similar kind of thing among its data, but it wouldn't surprise me.

People might be interested in this site I found recently: Amazon.com Sales Ranks (US). You can track the Amazon numbers over time. Looks like both the core book and Bestiary had a big drop, but then recovered, although there still may be slow declines at worst, holding steady for now. The newer books that are more niche do well for a month or so and then look like they decline fast, which historically is how sales went before online and gaming book pdfs were a thing.

Unfortunately, that's just looking at last weeks data vs this weeks data...which is kinda useless. The "big drop and recover" is rankings from about 4000 to 5000. Which is the norm. It's essentially flat. For reference it started in the top 100. THAT was the big drop...down to 1200s, then 2000s, 3000s, and now 4000s to 5000s.

I do see a couple of complaints about the "wavy pages" thing. Do people not know that you have to let books relax after they've been shipped? The whole "wavy pages" thing is simply because of humidity and will go away after a few days.

I didn't know that, of course I have never had a book with wavy pages either
