Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Interesting.

On Amazon, the Core Book is down to 5707 in books, and has fallen out of the top 50 in Fantasy Gaming, #54 right behind the Spellbook Cards: Druid set. The Bestiary & Lost Omens Guide have fallen out of the top 100, though the Lost Omens Character Guide is still hanging in there at #83, right behind the Spellbook Cards: Bard set.

Have played 3 sessions now. It seems like a solid game with potential for long term sales. I think Paizo should probably avoid smothering it with a 3e/pf1e type release schedule and let it develop more as an evergreen. They will need to do that on a smaller scale and staff than paizo 2008-2014 though.

People might be interested in this site I found recently: Amazon.com Sales Ranks (US). You can track the Amazon numbers over time. Looks like both the core book and Bestiary had a big drop, but then recovered, although there still may be slow declines at worst, holding steady for now. The newer books that are more niche do well for a month or so and then look like they decline fast, which historically is how sales went before online and gaming book pdfs were a thing.

Interesting that 60% give pathfinders core book 5 stars compared to 78% for 5e phb

Hmm, take from that what you will. Personally, I'd say neither of those books are 5 star products.

Re: Pathfinder, I have noticed a lot of people posting overly negative, one star reviews online for a range Paizo products in general, based on their reaction to Paizo's inclusivity (or "SJW" tendencies - depending on your personal viewpoint, I guess.)

These reviews are really, really unhelpful. If I want to know if a module is going to be fun to run, some reviewer who is furious that one of the the central NPCs is a woman adventurer, gay or whatever and gives it one star solely on that basis really tells me nothing about the quality of the story/adventure. Just muddying the waters.

That's a problem with the world/internet ATM, not just Paizo/RPGs/etc!

Yes I was surprised by the outrage and criticism of relatively minor additions.

However I’m more interested in the lack of advocates (people who would rate 5 stars or the equivalent of 9 or 10 out of 10). There are substantially more advocates as a percentage in D&D reviews than in Pathfinder. I’m surprised as while I thought pathfinder would have a smaller fan base it would be more loyal.

Edition wars seem to have hit them hard.

It’s really kind of gross reading some of the reviews. Sometimes I think it’s a bit heavy handed at times but for a game where you can determine what the feel is all on your own and reskin things to your heart’s content these reviewers are real jerks. Heaven forbid a character be gay.
