Uses the word Chi / Ki without using Life force or similar western analog.
I always found ZA easier to play and worth just as much. And tastier, too!And Qi is how Scrabble players get big scores...
Ki, with the meaning "life force" entered the English language in the 1960s. It is, therefore a "loan word", predating D&D. Using it, therefore, is only indirectly referential.Me neither but pretending it isnt directly referential is lying.
Then there is QiActually, Chi is a Greek letter, and Ki is a Japanese accent used to indicate a specific nasal tone.
'Monk' is also a western religious title and occupation which exists to this day.
Yup and that was one way I visualized using HS (rename Heroic Surges) - the 4e Martial Practices called on HS and many were directly referential to the original monk abilitiesI think somehow tapping into HP or HD for monk abilities would be better than adding Ki. I always liked in SWSE how Jedi and other Force-users directly used their Vitality (sort of HP) to power their abilities. Sorcerers could do the same thing instead of Sorcery Points, etc. It would make better use of a mechanic (HD) that is rarely used in the game IME.
