D&D 5E Do you want new settings, character-types, and monsters?

Seems like a niche they could fill, not sure why it never caught on. 4e spent years putting out those little square map tiles, but I would have preferred big paper maps myself of specific adventures. Even if you weren't running said adventure you could retool any map to your own purpose.

Have you checked out Oones maps on RPG drive-thru? Beautiful, cheap, and customize-able.

I know that WotC has rights to old material which makes reworking it easier and less costly and that D&D fans often clamor for a return of their old favorites.
But it seems that kind of model may stifle the game. I would love to see them try new worlds and characters classes without ties to the past. I don’t need new content exclusively, but I want the game to push the boundaries. The way the game has changed; players have changed; it seems like some injections of brand new material could grow from that. Threads pop up all the time asking for guesses on the next campaign book. The suggestions are almost always the names of things people have played before and want updated,

For me, Eberron IS that new thing. I ignored it during 3.5, never played 4e, so now it's new and shiny to me with interesting takes on the D&D I've known since '87 or so. No, it may not be as drastic a departure as some may want, but it's not just fantasy medival Europe will the SN filed off.

Too much is always better than not enough. Open up all the old settings the cream will rise to the top
Except from a business perspective. Such could well be the death toll of 5E.

I have no interest for new classes or even races (except for a unique setting). I would enjoy a totally new setting, that could be interesting. As for old settings, I would enjoy Greyhawk, but it really doesn't need to be reprinted as it can be used as is just fine. The only old setting I might buy would be Dark Sun. And that is mostly because I only played DS once and never bought it so I wouldn't mind buying it in a 5E edition. (I mean if I was going to play it then I would buy it, and I would rather have a 5E version than a 2E version.)

I would be interested in a Moonsea source book. Or perhaps another region book like SCAG. Not that I'm a Realms supporter, but sticking with the Realms is a good business decision and having anther region detailed would allow for different tropes and not require any new races or classes, yet could support some new monsters and spells and items.

Yes, no and maybe.

1)Yes I want a new setting I can steal from. In a format that is easy to grok.

2) No but, I would like to see some different magic.

3) Maybe, I am not particularly satisfied with the presentation of existing monsters Especially non-ip iconic ones. ( werewolves ) The new ones I see feel disconnected. (In an uncanny valley sort of way or worse)

I guess all of this is to say I want new stuff. I want new stuff that isn’t just a reassembled half-dragon with five chromatic variations. Or a new ooze that has spooky skeleton bits and a new power. Or a new goblin that has bigger ears.

I want something inspired and relatable not something made up to deal x damage and fill out our need. (for a monster that has the letter J at the beginning of it’s name.) I want something that I can use more than once. I do not need a golem formed from Chapstick tubes or a flying subterranean manta ray that smells like swimming pool liner. And if I did I could make it up.
