I think PF2 will be a slow burn, many people will move to PF2 searching for a game that offer more options and a system who facilitate the narrative without the fatal flaws of previous editions.

I wonder what causes the wild swings? It was over 5,000 just a few days ago.
Maybe there is some special promotion for games? 5th ed and ZWEIHANDER are also up this weekend if you track their rankings. There are some widgets that estimate the sales from the rank, so you can see that is a pretty significant but not a huge absolute increase in sales numbers. I wouldn't get too hung up on any one number. It's more about the trend, like if you were watching a stock. So far, recent behavior has been a spike on or around a holiday and then a decline back to the general 4000 to 5000 range, with a recent new low around 6200 for a very brief time. It's been at that range for a few months, so it could be the system reached its stable point.

What does it mean? Pure speculation, but it's good for the short term at least based on what Diamond and Paizo say. Long term, I'm not sure the system has the draw for gamers now playing 5th ed or PF1. It's going to depend on what groups want next. We all have our guesses, but people may turn to other non fantasy systems instead of to PF2.

What may be a good indicator is what games are being broadcast on Twitch and YouTube. If there are multiple that draw in large audiences, then PF2 will or is growing. If not, it's a toss up whether it draws enough new people to offset those that leave.

Interestingly the PF1 CRB is still #4 in Pathfinder books and the PF2 bestiary is #6
That is the standard problem GM products sell about 25% as well as player products. Bestiary's do a bit better than that usually but still not as well. I will be curious where the GMG and APG shake out later this year.

Funny thing, the only PF1 books I bought were some of the bestiarys, I got the CRB and Bestiary in PF2e and I am thinking about the GMG, but it is seem less likely as the days go by. If it had come out shortly after the release of the CRB I probably would have snatched it up, but my interesting in running a PF2e game has waned.
