D&D 5E I'm really hating Constitution right now

I think you'd probably see less halfling, gnome or other small race being front line warrior classes since they'd be rolling a d6 for hit points. You might get more wizards and sorcerers having lower Constitution scores since they have a d8 instead of a d6 hit die (it might be just as likely that they will keep the same 14+ Constitution) but I don't think that you would otherwise see much of a change in the other classes.

Small races would get +1 AC to make up for it.

I don't think that will be enough, they may be harder to hit but they still won't be very good at taking a hit when it does happen. Even with a +2 CON modifier, that halfling fighter is only going to have 8 hit points as opposed to 12 in the current system. They might have a 19 AC (Chainmail (is this AC 16?), Shield, Size bonus) but when they do get hit they will likely get dropped. Admittedly, a standard orc has a good chance of killing a regular fighter in one hit with their greatsword anyway so it might not be a heck of a big change for level 1.

Delete Constitution.
Classes get (1d12+3) (1d10+2) (1d8+1) or (1d6+1) HP per level.
Strength is used for Concentration/Disease/Etc.

I would delete CON and put its mechanics into STR.

dump STR now, you finesse addicts :p
Oddly enough, who cares if they dump STR since that number would otherwise go into CON anyway when you reduce the number of ability scores to five, if you know what I mean?

Necro thread? I'm a fan of @Horwath's proposal. Constitution serves no purpose that couldn't already be accomplished by Strength. I think we keep it because we fear the universe would fall apart if we parted from the iconic 6-ability scores. It's a fundamental of D&D: you have 6 scores.

1. There are 0 skills tied to Constitution. It's only function is: get this or be more likely to die early.
2. Stronger people are brawny. In real life and our literature, stronger = hardier. Think Conan the Barbarian, the Mountain that Rides, or the Incredible Hulk.
3. There's no harm in merging it with Strength. It's not tied to any class features or skills. The only feature affected would be caster Concentration saves, but what will happen is that casters will do what they always do: make it their 2nd or 3rd stat. There would need to be some mechanical toggling with the Default array/point buy and racial modifiers (do we simply make all CON boosts into STR boosts, even if this violates the +2 model?)

So a few design issues if you want to go this way.
