D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide errata coming

you just print it, and put the piece of paper between the two pages
This damages the spine.
OK, but you had to do that to every other 5e D&D book so far, since they've all had some actual updates by your definition. So where's the beef now?
My other books aren't first printings. And previous erratum were rephrasings at best. This is an actual rules change. And from what I'm seeing is not the only one.

I just print out the changes and slot it in the front cover if I want a physical copy. Otherwise, I use cloud storage and just reference the changes that way. Since I use DnDbeyond it contains the latest updates anyway which makes it less of an issue.

You do realize that a first edition is worth money, but a first edition that differs from later printings is worth even more, right? WotC just increased the value of your book.

Well, that was fun

That book is never going to be worth anything. Even 1E DMGs for the 1970s aren't worth much, let alone 5E books from 2017 or whenever.

It will be interesting to see what other errata they have for the book. The Reddit poster posted some more photos but when it comes to small changes I think I more easily comprehend them when released in an easy to read changes document.

Hero
Out of combat, Healing Spirit can affect everyone is the party ten times. That's 10d6 points of healing. Which is a lot more than Prayer of Healing's 2d8 + casting modifier.

Haha that's fair. My "fix" is only once per reason. Done. It's obvious that is what the intent was. No way in hell I would allow the healing merry-go-round.

That's because nobody plays 1e compared to the amount of books out there. They used library grade bindings. The books last longer than their owners. Also, you only need one DMG, and digital printings are available.

While technically true, a single piece of paper will damage the spine less than opening the book once.

This is not correct. For example, from the DMG:

Combining Game Effects (p. 252). This is a new subsection at
the end of the “Combat” section:
Different game features can affect a target at the same time.
But when two or more game features have the same name,
only the effects of one of them—the most potent one—apply
while the durations of the effects overlap. For example, if
a target is ignited by a fire elemental’s Fire Form trait, the
ongoing fire damage doesn’t increase if the burning target is
subjected to that trait again. Game features include spells,
class features, feats, racial traits, monster abilities, and magic
items. See the related rule in the “Combining Magical Effects”
section of chapter 10 in the Player’s Handbook.

It's even listed as a new subsection.

Many other sections redo who paragraphs and/or add new paragraphs, like Ranger Companion in the PHB. And there are equivalent rules changes, such as to Contagion.

It’s because commonly available mass produced books aren’t worth much, even 40 years later.
