51. Started D&D in 1981 with a blend of Holmes and the 1E PHB before moving to Moldvay B/X and then 1E only. A fair bit of DragonQuest in between as well (technically the first game I DMed).

A Title Much Cooler Than Anything on the Old Site
58, started playing in 77 when dwarves were fighting men, hobbits were thieves.

I still have my old dice that you had to color in and the edges all chipped off.

I only have one of those light blue dice that you had to color in with the included white crayon. It is a dog-chewed d10, the edges so rounded and the bit scars so deep that it isn't good as a fair die anymore. Now I use it as an "okus" in my Illimat games.

Us older gamers keep bringing up those old dice and we never tire of talking about them.

My parents had found it. The other exciting find was some D&D action figures. My parents keep some old toys around so their grandkids had something to play with. Only Warduke and Evil Sorcerer Kelek survived...though Kelek's no longer stay in his body. He must have been a wild-magic sorcerer.

49. First book was a beat up AD&D Monster Manual in 1979 or so, which my dad found in a giveaway box at the bookstore. He thought I’d like the pictures and fantasy statistics because I liked animal facts as a child.

Shortly after, I cajoled my parents into getting me a Holmes boxed set. Mine came from one of the print runs during TSR’s dice shortage, so it had a laminated sheet of chits to be cut out and drawn from a cup. But they sprung for some real dice from the game store so I never used the chits.
