WotC wants a new d20 Modern, but it's no ready yet to be 100% compatible with D&D. The power balance is totally broken if add firearms or high-tech.

They're never going to do a .5 edition. A 6E is an eventual possibility, but it won't happen soon, nor be overly radical.

There are a lot of things I'd like to see in life that are also completely infeasible.
Like a Gnome Paladin mounted on a giant Basset Hound charging across a verdant meadow wielding a lance in either hand while his Imp companion plays Ride of the Valkyries on a set of Parlor Pipes?There are a lot of things I'd like to see in life that are also completely infeasible.

Infeasible? That was last month's session!
Sweet, I'm glad I'm not the only guy doing that.
A lot of guys forget the Parlor Pipes, which is what brings the whole thing together IMO.

I'll freely admit that one of the character concepts I want to play is a gnome bard with warpipes. But I'm ashamed to admit I never thought of the giant basset hound mount...Sweet, I'm glad I'm not the only guy doing that.
