5e targeting rules:
A CLEAR PATH TO THE TARGET
To target something, you must have a clear path to it, so it can't be behind total cover,

Insect Plague rules:
Swarming. biting locusts fill a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point you choose within range.

Based on the above rules you cannot target a point behind total cover.

It's not the case. Are you thinking that you have a tree more than 20ft radius?
Lol.

Remember again, You situational position is countered heavily for Shadow Walk and Subtle Dimension Door.

No way to survive.

Invisibility and hide. Guess where I am. Spend the next 1 minute guessing :)

Could you survive more than 250 potencial burst?
Invisibility is concentration and hide is a skill check. vs oposite perception each turn. Good lucky. True Seeming Spell and See Invisible don't work?
Also.
Extended Etherealness, restoring sorcery point each short rest. (Sorcerous Recovery). You expended all while the Sorcerer is regaining everything. Wizard is covardly dead.
Umbral form again, repeat.
But, I have absolutely sure that you die before.

As a wizard, I'd be happy to see you on the border etheral. Counterspell does not extend into etheral, but magic missile will and so would any force spells.

But, I am sure you'd have a contingency for that. Jokes asides, you should acknowledge that you would lose to a diviner. Heck, a GWM, polearm master with a few feats geared toward initiative would win initiative and inflict your sorcerer about 220 points of damage on average not counting criticals. Add in sentinel and mage slayers and it is over. Yes this is five feats out seven but it leaves enough for max dex and 18 st. Trying to cast a simple shield would allow him an additional attack as a reaction giving him more damage on you.

And this baby won against all casters save one, the f***ing diviner. Even martial artists had trouble against him. Do not assume that you have any spell or features active. You won't. You will lose initiative about two third of the time against this baby.

I am not taking the side of the diviner in this. It is just that the diviner won our little experience and it will here. Portent is just that powerful.

Edit: a few misplaced letters, thank you autocorrector...
