D&D 5E The Gaming Gang Pages Through Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

In this video from The Gaming Gang, you can watch a page-through of Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frost Maiden, including a look at Aurils three forms. There's a few snippets posted below, but check out the full video for a look at every page in the book, which comes out next week.

"Jeff dives in to take a look at and page through the latest adventure supplement for Dungeons & Dragons, from Wizards of the Coast. D&D Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frost Maiden transports the characters to the frigid lands of the Far North to save the inhabitants of Ten-Towns and foil a trio of evil plots. The 320 page hardcover arrives in stores September 15th, 2020 and will carry an MSRP of $49.95."

I am excited. Not only is the art gorgeous but the maps look great. I am a fan of Dyson Logos' designs but always felt they should be inked and colored to make them pop. It also seems like the dungeons are smaller scale, which I prefer for a campaign like this. The Avernus dungeons were just too big to serve as forays.

Personally, the maps are "nice" but not great. At $50 a book, I think I would prefer to have maybe LESS art work and more detailed maps that I could use on VTT games (which is all I play these days).

DMsGuild crafted maps should appear rather quickly. Some of the ones folks put together for Avernus were pretty amazing. I suspect that at some point WotC will start selling VTT map packs. it's money on the table at this point. I think a lot of folks are going to stay VTT even after the pandemic has passed. I run a game with folks spread all over, but my other game was out local game and we save travel time and get more play time by doing VTT. I think we will get together physically sometimes just because that is a great experience, but I bet we still use FG regularly.
