Should D&D 5e have more classes?

Depends on how fortunate the family is. Most people I know only have one spouse working. The other takes care of the kids.
That's a privilege not every family has. I have friends whose both parents work, but only because they can't afford a living otherwise. In a lot of cases, the choice for a mother to stay at home is not on the table. It is work or starve/face homelessness

There’s nothing wrong with both parents working if they need it, and there’s nothing wrong with both parents working if they want to! Whatever’s best for them. But I do think it’s best for a mom not to be too career-minded.

I would have liked the removal of a few classes I find redundant, but I can accept the PHB classes. Any future classes should be done in a setting book, as they did the Artificer for Eberron. The psion would be perfect in a Dark Sun book. The warlord... I suppose it they ever did Birthright again. A courtier based class for a political setting ala Game of Thrones. This prevents bloat for the standard game, while opening possibilities specific to those settings. For fans of a particular class, it's not like you have to limit the class to the setting, but obviously the DM would make the final decision (as they should be doing for all races/classes anyway).

Why specifically the mother?
There’s no law against women working, and they have the freedom to do it. In the big picture, childcare is literally what women are made for. Physically. Also, women tend to be more detail-oriented and mentally suited for managing children. And interior design, just look at HGTV. There are differences between men and women. In general, men base their identity on what they do, which typically involves work.

Well that's pretty regressive gender-essentialist naughty word.

Gender essentialist? Maybe it is. It certainly is. Gender is relevant to certain naughty word things like raising children.
It really is not. But of course if you think it is and raise your children differently depending on their gender and tell them the sort of outdated stereotypes you spouted here they will learn them.
