D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I think what happened here is Hohige had one of those "rule of cool" DMs where the RAW is ignored, handwaved, or reinterpreted based on whatever the DM thinks sounds awesome. And that's how you get nonsense like "psychic spells are exempt from initiative" and "Mind Spike insta-kills you" and whatever else. I'll bet he's one of those types where a nat 20 on a Persuasion check is basically mind control.

I suspect most DMs here run RAW + Rule of Reasonable. There isn't even much room for rulings in this situation, it's all covered by RAW. And when you run this RAW, a 4th-level sorcerer ends up as soup.

So, Hohige, you are saying that even though my character has taken damage, the character might not realize it? Because I doubt the players I DM for would be happy if I told them that as DM.

Yeah you're right I'm damaged i'm attacked by no-one and it can't be a spell well let's think what could it be...Ah the wind right I'm dumb!

Earlier in the thread I made a joke about a Mark of the Storm barbarian with an aura of the desert that does hot, dry air around him and damage 2 HP a round, killing everyone in Waterdeep just standing behind them? Reality beats fiction!
