WotC James Wyatt is on the Dungeons & Dragons Team Again

Mearls was brought into a 5e project temporarily.

I dint think WotC woukdhint” about a 6e. They won’t keep it a secret either. They learned that lesson with 4e and the public playtests of 5e.

also, hiding Mearls so he can work on 6e and bringing Wyatt back so he can work in 6e and not hiding him seems silly.

True, though I think part of the lack of video appearances is due to some rapid changes in staffing at places like D&D Beyond, where they used to do a ton of interviews with WotC.

Perkins still does some pretty high-profile stuff, like running that Christmas-themed game with the cast of Stranger Things. And I'm glad, considering that by all accounts everyone thinks Chris Perkins is a very genuine person (another point for Team Canada).
I get nothing but good vibes from Perkins and Crawford. And I have no reason to not trust those vibes.
And yeah, even from where I'm located (Northern Europe), the question is: is an evil Canadian even possible?

gimme a break.

Seems like a vocal minority of folks enjoy reading the tea leaves for a 6E, when from a financial standpoint it would seem insane to kill the golden goose 5E when it hasn't yet peaked in sales.

wotc has something big cooking if they are moving more designer in to place, if not 6e then it will be something else.

Yea, they were made a top tier devision of WoTC. And are making more books or releases. Box sets too. And apparently licensed games. A position they only dreamed about pre-4e.

seems like a bad time to drop a new version.

Exactly right—but from a nonfinancial standpoint there are a couple of reasons to go ahead and create a new (or revised) edition:

1) you think the game could be improved mechanically in a way that would enhance players' experiences without alienating other players or pissing them off about having to replace already-purchased products;

2) you need to purge "problematic" elements from the game, whether thematic or mechanical.

(If you want to be more precise, you can replace "nonfinancial" with "less directly financial" in my opening sentence.)
