D&D 5E What Single Thing Would You Eliminate

No. I'm sorry but I don't want a single stupid roll of some stupid dice ruin my experience for multiple sessions going forward. If you roll two 1s on your Fighter when levelling up? Yeah might as well throw myself into a pit and get a new character. WAY too much impact for a single roll.
Yeah, rolling dice for your ability scores - when so much depends on your ability scores - just seems dumb/mean/sadistic. Point buy for me!

You know what?

Just get rid of what little grappling rules they have, and let people sort it out at their tables. I think we'd all be better off.

I only have a handful and nothing really stands out. I'll give an honorary mention to hand crossbows, they should only do 1 point of damage and only be useful as a weapon as a poison delivery device.

My one thing? Vancian casting and recharge abilities. Give me some variation of mana or spell points. Give PCs the option to push beyond their limits at a cost and options to recharge mana/power based on the amount of time spent recuperating. Throw in some way of recovering power more quickly but make it risky.

This is easy! I see all classes and sub-classes and lineages as optional and can be removed without too much fuss or upsetting the game mechanically. Wanna eliminate them? Just do it! Eliminating stuff like "all spontaneous casting" is potentially a lot harder because it applies across classes/sub-systems.
Oh, I know.

I don't allow them.

But if there were something I'd like to see OUT of the game, something that should never have been added IN in the first place, this is definitely one of them.
