WotC WotC Generates 75% Of Hasbro's Profit

ICv2 is reporting that WotC generated $110M of Hasbro's $147.3M operating profits in the first quarter of this year, with an increase of 15% on last year.

Of overall sales, WotC generated (only!) 22% of Hasbro's $1.1B.

The growth is attributed to Magic: the Gathering and D&D. Recently, Hasbro restructured with 'WotC and Digital Gaming' getting it own division.

I believe the bigger problem is that would require approval by vote by the majority of the Holders. AT least one of those probably thinks Disney is the Devil.

They might be willing to let a portion go for a significant amount of money, at least would have a better chance at passing the vote on the board if not the stock holders general.

I don't see it happening currently though, at least (or perhaps especially) for WotC and brands associated. You never know though. If the bribe is big enough...

But Disney isn't the only one out there, and isn't even the biggest one. Ironically, I think other brands generally come to mind when companies consider Hasbro rather than D&D or MtG...even if WotC brands have had a big impact recently.

A full merger or acquisition of Hasbro on toto is the only reasonable scenario for a change of ownership of D&D specifically that I can see.

Hasbro is worth $13.5B, and they're definitely a meaningful portion of that value, so...I think it's not a crazy estimate.

I'd say WotC is worth $10B. Of course that would gut Hasbro; so they'd have to have a plan to do something with that $10B for shareholders to approve.

What do you think about the future Hasbro's strategy? I guess they will buy or acquire some other lesser company. They would rather to be independient, because it is better healing different offers than only obeying orders by the top-bosses. I thought about merger or acquisition of some tabletop boardgame company, but today the money is in the power of brand/franchises/intellectual properties, and the digital market. A comicbook publisher could be bought to be the ideas-laboratory to create potential new franchises. Let's remember streaming series based in comics: American-Gods, Preacher, Umbrella Academy, (Garth Enni's) the Boys, the Walking Dead, Invicible.

Hasbro and Paramount has got a five-year deal. And after? In 2023 lots of things could have happened, for example the fall of big fishes in the entertainment industry.

The toy market is struggling at the moment, so it wouldn't fetch as much as they would want. It's the IPs that Hasbro owns that hold the most value.

It was not a bad economic year for the toy industry but it was for all cinema industry, even for biggest fishes and not only for Entertaiment-One. We should remember the famous company Nintendo didn't start selling electronics because it was created decades before the digital age.

Hasbro wants a good relation with Disney, but not to be too linked. Better the independence and total freedom for partnership with other companies, for example videogame studios. Here woking as a freelance with offers better offers is better to be obeying orders by a boss. And now Hasbro has got deals with Paramount Pictures and also with Netflix. Maybe even Hasbro would dare to buy more companies, even some cinema studio.

Disney had got her own toy mark, Toy Biz.

The movie division is going to turn a profit again this year, because theaters exist again.

That will also boost toy sales.
