D&D 5E New WotC Survey! Learn About A New D&D Product!

WotC has launched a new survey about the future of D&D. This survey includes an NDA (which some people have not taken to well!) halfway through, which asks you not to talk about the survey on pain of being tracked down and fined, but it's about an upcoming (unannounced) new D&D product. They do. It's also hard to enforce and hard to prove any damage was done unless someone got a super-secret question about what's coming out in November and also, here's Chris Perkins' cell phone number.

They claimed to be able to track me via my IP address and threatened me with fines if I said anything about what I saw.

Prior to that, I felt like I was being tested on my 5e rules knowledge. What does advantage mean? What die do you use to roll initiative with? Etc.

And then after the secret bit, they expected me to know how much I spent on various products over the past 12 months and wouldn't let me answer with "lots" or "too much". It had to be a number! Boo!

In the non-NDA section, the questions about all of the Core PHB Races were interesting: like they were reconsidering them.

If this survey doesn't add fuel to the "2024 edition" fire, I don't know what would.

Man, I skipped straight from the rules quiz to how much I played. They told me they would show me a secret thing and then ... didn't.

Yeah, I definitely got a "we're reconsidering how we do the PHB races" vibe from that part of the survey.

Questions you might ask for long, long term planning, rather than active development.

I think if they were working on a new PHB, they wouldn't have been so focused on races. They asked nothing about classes or any other rules, it just seems like they're considering de-emphasizing racial stuff in the future, in the vein of Tasha's.
