D&D 5E New WotC Survey! Learn About A New D&D Product!

WotC has launched a new survey about the future of D&D. This survey includes an NDA (which some people have not taken to well!) halfway through, which asks you not to talk about the survey on pain of being tracked down and fined, but it's about an upcoming (unannounced) new D&D product. You can find out what it is by taking the survey (or it's all over social media aready).

I spent half the survey complaining about the stacked redundant costs of [redacted--shhhhh not allowed to say] and then at the very end realized I spend way too much on minis (nothing to do with the NDA survey questions)...I wonder if that makes me a hypocrite? lol.

Question for the lawyers out there, could WotC actually sue you based on the "agreement" not to talk about what was in the survey? Or is this just a scare tactic? From the biz side, the negative publicity of suing a fan of the game because they talked about the survey seems like it would be a very bad idea. If they really wanted to keep this a secret, wouldn't it make more sense to run some focus groups where you actually sign a real NDA? I'm half wondering if the 'don't talk about what you see' is a marketing ploy to ensure that people talk about it...

Funny thing is, if I had taken screenshots, the actual video was such a mockup that I don't think anyone would believe it was real even if they saw it. They'd think it was photoshop!

Not likely. Though they could "easily" block your IP from their site......edit: not a lawyer....

I think it falls into the "probably could, probably won't," category.

Actually suing someone for this is probably allowed, but actually doing it is a huge hassle on their end too.

I think if they were working on a new PHB, they wouldn't have been so focused on races. They asked nothing about classes or any other rules, it just seems like they're considering de-emphasizing racial stuff in the future, in the vein of Tasha's.

Where would they put elves 2.0, though, if not a revised PHB? Putting revised PHB core races in another book forks the player base.

Where would they put elves 2.0, though, if not a revised PHB? Putting revised PHB core races in another book forks the player base.

They've already done revised racial rules in Tasha's. I don't see why they can't do so again (and again, and again). Makes more sense to me than re-releasing the PHB.
