I keep mine set to ON. The built-in thermostat has a floor of 61F, which is comfortable, and if it gets much cooler than that, I turn the A/C OFF.

Did I read right that you keep it cooler in the summer than in the winter? (If so, is that for humidity control?)

Yes the lounge and kitchen gets the afternoon sun. We use the heat pump to lower the temperature.

Hot day is around 29C but if you get the right wind and really hot day it's 37 or so and you can have 29C at 10pm at night cooling to say 21 at 3am.

Warm parts of the country something similar just more frequently.

Being an island you can also get 4 seasons in one day plus rain. Winter can hit 20+ and a cold snap with snow can happen through to October and a cold snap in summer isn't that unusual depending on the wind coming off Antarctica.

We only have thermostats on our window AC units in our bedrooms. They are mostly used at night, if at all. If they are needed, they are usually set to ~65F.

In most (summer) circumstances, we use fans to cool the house at night, and close it up before the hottest parts of the day.

Disclaimer: We live in Minnesota, USA, and our default heat settings are 63F in the day and 60F at night.

Second disclaimer: My earliest memories are of growing up on the shore of the North Atlantic, in Newfoundland Canada. I have always preferred cold to hot.

18-22 C, 20 is recommended but I like to got a little higher for that cozy feel.

25C in a cold room, but then adjust down once it warms up

Love living in a nice little temperate coastal bubble, where the temp rarely deviates from 45-65 season to season. Mid-70's qualifies a heat wave, and tipping 80 is a crisis. I grew up where the 80's would've been considered a brisk afternoon, and I don't miss it one bit.

With temps in the 90s over the last two days, and probably topping 100 tomorrow, it's been tempting. However, this would have to be a whole lot more frequent for me to hire somebody to install a heating/air conditioning system. I hate the window boxes, so those are a no-go.

In my family’s house, we keep the thermostat set between 72-78degF year round. My fan runs year-round. Mine is oversized and quite powerful, so I rarely have it running AB of 4 (out of 6 speeds).

When I lived in a single dorm room my junior & senior years of college, I kept my room at 59degF.
