TSR Just when you thought it was all over.... now there’s a fourth TSR!

In the story that will never end, after having this week turned itself into Wonderfilled, Inc, and deleted its Twitter account, TSR is BACK AGAIN! Like again, again, again, again. Complete with old-school logo! And Michael appears to actually exist!

Michael K. Hovermale says in a press release that an unnamed individual (I’m guessing Stephen Dinehart) apparently ran all the social media accounts for TSR, Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum, Ernie Gygax, Justin LaNasa, and Giantlands. He goes on to say that this person has been replaced, and that all posts on those social media accounts are "invalid". There's no mention of Stephen Dinehart's social media accounts though.

Dinehart has left TSR3, taking Giantlands with him. Given that Star Frontiers mentions have been quietly removed a week or so ago, that would leave TSR3.5 without any roleplaying game products, as far as I can tell.

The existing (TSR3} website still says it's WONDERFILED (sic), Inc. However there’s now a NEW one at TSR Hobbies. We’ll call that TSR3.5 for now. I’m struggling to distinguish TSRs from tribbles at this point. They just keep on coming!

No, at this point the only good reason to buy the TSR trademark would be to give it the true death it deserves.

Which is the one thing you cannot do with a trademark under US Trademark law. You have to use it to keep it.

The real trick to ending the line of TSR's would be a copyright suit by Wizards on the images which TSR 3 filed.
And the computer company in wisconsin suing over brand devaluation due to the negative press over the games company. (different logos and marks, but a registered trademark which is now tainted with the ideas of being a fraud and of being anti-LGBT*...

I dunno. I think that there are already a large-ish number of OSR products that do capture the feeling of old school TSR with varying quality. Some without the issues of new TSR, even.

Watching this is like watching a good old friend go on a massive drug fueled public bender, to include urinating themselves. It's more sad, than funny at this point. And I mean that sincerely.

I have a TON of fond memories of the TSR era products, and to see it destroyed like this? I mean, Lorraine drove it into the ground, but at least it wasn't this massive public debacle of the IP as if the monkeys suddenly were in control.

It's been a few years since I've seen any of my DVDs of his stuff. But it's not even the misogyny (I'm assuming you mean stuff like the "funny" times he had male characters fall onto female ones and things like that in some of his super hero movies) so much as finding out that he was a terrible bully to the actors. I keep thinking about what was going on behind the scenes when he was threatening actors or slamming them against walls.

Even at the time, it was obvious something was up with Charisma Carpenter in Buffy.

That said, the Boom Comics reimagining of Buffy is great, and either purposefully, or through a happy accident, seems to be a conscious corrective to a lot of the Whedon failings of the series.

Much like with TSR 3, there were five minutes where that seemed like that could be an interesting storyline (an idealistic Hydra leader doing evil things for what he saw as the "right" reasons) and then it just fell apart into a hastily assembled pile of garbage.
