D&D 5E D&D Live Schedule - Unannounced Book Reveal July 16th

The October unannounced book first mentioned by WotC's Ray Winninger in June will be revealed at 3pm ET (8pm BST) on Friday. This book joins The Wild Beyond the Witchlight and Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos as the next three official D&D releases this year.

No, I think not. Dark Sun and Planescape are more likely, because they offer more of a unique experience and are more popular per WotC. Dragonlance is in the same Limbo as Greyhawk, as generic Forgotten Realms-ish worlds. And Fizban is a multiversal character, heck, Bahamut got his own card in the new Forgotten Realms Magic Set.

Speaking as someone who adored 2e Planescape, and who directly points at my high school fascination with it as a cause for my spending the following six years of my life studying philosophy: I really have no idea if it'll return as a setting. On one hand, WotC seems to really want to only publish settings that allow every player option from the PHB, and Planescape is cosmopolitan enough to allow more or less whatever a player wants to play. On the other hand, Crawford has several times pointed out that the WotC D&D team are all big fans of Planescape, and that it's more or less baked into core D&D at this point - tieflings are in the PHB, Sigil is in the DMG, and the blood war is in Mordenkainens. I could totally (and hopefully!) see us getting a planar book of some sort, but I personally doubt it'll be called 'Planescape'.

I'll not only say it's probable, but that it is probably the Chris Perkins Setting project that Winninger has spoken about.
