D&D 5E D&D Live Schedule - Unannounced Book Reveal July 16th

The October unannounced book first mentioned by WotC's Ray Winninger in June will be revealed at 3pm ET (8pm BST) on Friday. This book joins The Wild Beyond the Witchlight and Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos as the next three official D&D releases this year.

This has probably been posted already (apologies if so), but here is the pre-order page on Amazon (US):

1.25 pounds, no page count yet.
Ravenloft is listed as 2.1 pounds and that’s 256 pages. So about 1/4 of that or a softback.

I noticed AFR mentioned, maybe they will tell us something about the new characters in the set that they thought were important enough to bump beloved, important setting characters for.

I think I read somewhere that the new characters are just meant to represent the "stand-in adventuring group" and are not going to be major characters in books/products.

I bet it's going to be a new campaign setting featuring a Mimic that takes on the guise of an ancient and destroyed (but beloved) kingdom. The PCs will need to fight against this Mimic and its minions before it sullies the good name of the ancient kingdom to such a degree that even the old stories will be tainted.

Where did they say it wouldn't be Dark Sun?
I think Raunalyn is saying that this book won't be a campaign setting of any sort, not that it specifically wasn't going to be Dark Sun. I vaguely recall someone at the last D&D Live event mentioning this - that three classic campaign settings were coming, but that this product wasn't one of them.

The two classic settings are coming in 2022. The October book will not be a classic campaign setting.
