This is a problem larger than Wizards of the Coast. To quote the article:

Rising freight costs have been hitting the industry hard of late, with some tabletop game publishers reporting a steep, steady increase throughout 2021, in some cases two to three times the normal price for shipping containers as the demand for cargo space outstrips the available containers.

I believe this is the same reason a lot of products that require overseas shipping are becoming more expensive.

Everyone's battling this. 2 years ago you could get a 40' container from China to the US for like $2500. This year it's $10k-$15k, or more if you want it delivered promptly.
5% inflation doesn't help things either.

I'm in the transportation world. Everyone's taking at least one price increase this year even for domestic transportation.

It was bound to happen.

We are also currently hit by a wave of 'reduceflation' in supermarkets. Packages stay the same size but contain 7-8% less so it's not readily noticeable visually to the consumer. This is due to inflation of wheat and other basic foods.

One example given in an article I read this morning is the concave bump at the bottom of mayonnaise jar is larger while the container stayed the same, effectively removing several grams of content. You're paying the same amount for less product.

D&D is increasingly getting unappealing. I already preordered and couldn't cancel them, so this likely won't effect them, as its through amazon. Still I doubt I will.be doing much more business with them anyways.
You do realize that prices don’t stay the same forever? WoTC has essentially charged the same price for 7 years which is pretty rare.

I have some questions, unsure if you can share more (or if they're invasive).

What is causing the price increases? Is it related to the pandemic or other issues? Are these price increases expected to become the norm or will there be decreases?

That's gonna make it even tougher for us FLGSs - we're stuck to MSRPs for the most part (or we don't make any money) while all the big boxes undercut us. I think the real reason that MSRPs are so high these days is that the vast majority of the print run don't get sold for even close to it.
