D&D 5E Why Don't We Simplify 5e?

All that snark aside, do you mean to tell me that "beyond a reasonable doubt" is determined by jurors indulging their personal preferences?
🤨
Since humans are not in fact robots, yes, what the individual juror determines is "beyond a reasonable doubt" is entirely within their purview. The judge may explain what "reasonable doubt" means, legally, and what the judge expects of them...but it's still up to the individual juror to decide. They don't slot a reason and logic chip into jurors when they are put on a jury. So you're dealing with 12 random yahoos off the street that weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty. This is wildly off topic, btw.

It's our personal opinions regarding the intellectual capacity of our neighbors and the role of civic duty in a functioning society that are off topic.

ART!

Concerning the importance of exploration, as well as ressource management, I find this blog entry sums it up best. A lot of 5E DMs and players should consider this:

I like the ideas in that article, but all that sounds exhausting for me as a GM. I'd have to figure out a way to organize it all...which also sounds exhausting! :)

Yeah...one thing leads to another and soon you have a spreadsheet tracking the economic inflation caused by the pcs dungeon delving...

Create your own random encounter table specific to the well-traveled road and include encounters that aren't monsters. Wandering merchants, carts stuck in the mud, a bridge that collapses underfoot, bandits, a roadside shrine, a ghost town with actual ghosts, etc.

Provided assistance, added interest, and reinforced campaign themes are just as important as creating urgency, establishing atmosphere, and draining resources.
Yes... BUT only if it isn't filler-grade material.

I can't help but wonder why a Dungeon Master would take the time to map out filler-grade material. Could it be because they simply need more experience as the DM, struggle with pacing, or maybe just aren't intuitive as to the player's interests?

Well, when it comes to things like this, for at least some players its hard to end up with anything that isn't filler grade; there's a fair number of people who most of this sort of thing are just color commentary on the way to the real part of the game.

And of course, not everyone finds it easy to make their tenth wandering merchant interesting...

The Dungeon Master's Guide makes it super easy to flesh out detailed NPCs in ten sentences.

Anybody good at math? How many different combinations are possible using the 8 tables provided?

I used to discount random tables, but I've come around on them. Heck, AEG's book of tables is actually good value. But I do think DMs need more in a prospective Simplified 5e/6e(?). I think Skill challenges need to come back, revamped and fixed, given the bad rap they got in 4e. Probably drop "Skill" and just call them Challenges. They are already in 5e as a way to run naval encounters in Saltmarsh ... and having such a good tool hidden in a suplemental book is sad.
