D&D 4E Inquiry: How do 4E fans feel about 4E Essentials?

The Slayer and other AEDU-breakers being added to 4e is like classes with a competent rest cycle being added to 5e - whether you think it's good or bad, it's going to break how the game handles rest beyond recognition.

Except that having a slayer and a scout in the party didn't break 4e beyond recognition.

Because his anecdotes indicate it is simple for the vast majority of the humans not mired by bias.

There's a difference between being mired by bias and mired by experience.

And "the vast majority" is far from proven.

Essentials (synonym for basic?) didnt target that was actually my point and I believe if it had, then I for one would have seen it as less of a "giving into the trolls".

And then subsequent 5e put more complex martial options on a really tight window oh maybe you can do a little more complex encounter powers no you cannot really have dailies) but mostly just go ahead and hit things like a nice simple striker, that a boy/girl.

If someone who's been playing the game for two years just suddenly clicks with the new thing I don't think that bias is the problem

Some things just click with some people and others with others.

This is really the best answer to a lot of things. We need to accept that our own personal connections and experiences rarely constitute the "vast majority" of anything.

5e has complex martial options? News to me.

I guess only a bit more so like combining grabs and pushes and trips which are each an option on every individual attack sequence and can be combined with the battlemasters maneuvers. One can approach, disarm an enemy and shove them away from their tool, and pick it up for instance at level 5. Nice against a relatively small subset of adversaries.

Eh, I didn't see the move from everybody being AEDU to some being less daily in their powers as breaking the rest cycle. There were still hard healing surge daily limits.

From my point of view it meant more consistency in what to expect from PCs combat to combat as there was less spikey daily powers that might or might not enter a combat.
