Ah! In that case, they should try deep-frying the minis and putting them on sticks.

This kind of thing is why we lost Squats. :D
I have eaten
the Squats
that were in
the deep fryer

And which
you were probably
saving
for next army

Forgive me
they were delicious
so crispy
and so beardy

Getting people to buy new models is part of it.
Part?

The lore is an afterthought. Its planned obsolescence, and nothing more. GW has mentioned that Marines outsold everything else they did, all of Fantasy alone, but you can only go back to that well so many times.

How do you get people with thousands, even 10's of thousands, of dollars worth of product to start over?

1. Change the scale.
2. Push the rules.
3. Stop releasing new things in the old scale.

GW collectors are as hooked to their "plastic crack" as MTG players are to thin pieces of cardboard.

Primaris are nothing more than the answer to 'we need to sell Marines to Marine players, again, but how.'

I will say, the recent (few years ago?) story about the Primaris Marine, how he was kidnapped off the streets as a youth, tortured, brainwashed, and then put on ice for 10,000 years all by the 'good guys' was decent, but the motivation for them is plain as it gets. Pure capitalism.

Hey, technically, I have no issue with the Primaris models. Nice proportions, look good, etc etc. But it is what it is. "Oh your normal marines cannot ride in this, and vise versa' its just too obvious.
