D&D 5E What new linages do you want?

Say I want to play a flying octopus that can breathe air, and has the ability to manifest all physical attacks psionically, and its species came from outer space, so naturally, said octopus has a space ship to whisk the players to other planets, and also, use lasers on the ship to fight space battles. Is that still D&D?
PC races don't come with equipment. The rest of it is doable.

The grell had "lightning lances" in Spelljammer, which makes them actually pretty close to flying, air-breathing octopuses with lasers and spaceships. I can't recall if they had psionics or not, but hey, they're flying brains so maybe.

That'd be cool.

Mine would be gargoyles ala Disney's. I don't think it would be so hard either, with gliding, inactive night mode, climb speed, claws and some superstrength abilities like carry strength or a knockback ability.

Hrm. The forced inactivity period (and the vulnerability that comes with it) is a pretty hefty gameplay issue. In addition, the one major positive about it (healing) is irrelevant, as characters already get their HP back on a long rest.

This might become a minor ribbon - the gargoyle gets a big AC boost during a long rest, but is very difficult (but not impossible) to wake, or the like.

Yeah, you can't 1:1 this from the show without a DM who will absolutely won't gank you for playing one.

Maybe a slow effect at night with an AC boost, and a restoration effect on long rest? Like if you got perma HP loss, it wears off?

So it's not 5e but I remembered I did some gargoyle monsters before:

Rocky Torpor

When not active, a gargoyle may enter a trance-like state, during which stony plaques grow over their body including objects worn or carried, effectively sealing them in stone.

While in this state, the gargoyle’s DR becomes 20 vs all non-bludgeoning, acid or sonic damage.

The gargoyle is able to sense the world around it at a -10 penalty and gain a +10 bonus to Disguise checks to resemble normal statues or blend into native rock.

Entering Rocky Torpor takes 1 minute. Exiting it can be done as a Full Round Action. A gargoyle can choose to expel the stone covering their body violently, dealing 2d8+14 slashing damage to all adjacent non-gargoyles.

Hello everyone.

What would you make if you were allowed to create a new linage for the 5th edition? I would create a dog person. We have many cat people; we need dog people to balance things out.

If Wizards of the Coast wanted to be more daring, they could create a way for you to choose your animal person. Expand on the Simic Hybrid; you want a cat-type person, choose claws and a natural stealth skill, dog you get a bite and a pack tactic-type skill. Lizard or insect, you get tough skin and ?. Fish get a swim speed and ?. You are a Canadian like me and want to play a beaver. We got you covered with giant teeth and natural engineering skills. Bird, you get wings. Want a burrow speed? We got that too. If you want a hybrid, choose one talent from collum A and one skill from B. Have an idea for an awakened animal? Step right up. We got you covered.

I would also like an ooze-type creature, it is nothing we have ever had before, and I think it would be neat.

An actual tiny linage and a giant linage would also be nice. Then I can play a sprite or a half-giant.

Let your imagination run wild; what would you create if you had the chance.
I've got something that kind of covers the animals, I think I got it off the DMs guild. Build your own anthropomorphic animal with different abilities chosen at creation to help you bring your concept to life.
