I have always seen the Drow in Mezzobarazan as the first victims of Lolth webs.
Evil communities or organization may look appealing from the outside, but a closer look reveal the hardness of such life. Drows may have choice but from their birth they are in a place that force them to use violence, plotting, treachery, just to survive. On top of that they got a sadistic god who push them more and more to struggle agains each other’s. Lolth prefer to torment free will being, rather than muppets.
There is no fun being there, and no way to escape! The system make sure to sustain itself.
yeah, that doesn't work for me. It leads to a upper % of people who are evil (cause they rise to power) and a large number of people keeping there heads down (just to survive) but I don't think it actually leads to an all or even mostly evil society. But then you get into systemic vs individual and intended and unintended consequences, and the good place/bad place issues...

I honestly beleive that less then 3/4 of the drow in Mezzobarazan should be evil... maybe less then 1/2. In my own imagination I always see it as 10% chaotic evil 10-15% split Lawful and Neutral Evil, and like 60% neutral alignments (leaning more to chaotic) but still having 10-15% be good people who are just stuck.

Right. Too bad that ‘evil’ isn’t a coherent concept either.
Well, now we're just going down the path of moral relativism and realpolitik, where Evil is framed only by the subjective view of others and what is evil to one person or group is acceptable and good to others. Ergo all conflict stems not from a sense of cosmic or rational morality but by what is either acceptable to the largest group of people or by whomever has enough strength to enforce it.

You're going to have to forgive me if I like absolute Evil and Good in my silly elf game; the world is already full of conflicts spawned of "noble" intentions.

The Lloth situation is clearly a cult programming issue rather than any sort of evil. Lloth and her tenets are incredibly stupid and unsustainable only through constant indoctrination does no one realize they're joined the slowest suicide pact in history.

This doesn't seem to be the discussion board to discuss the historiography of Satan, unless you're trying to get the thread shut down.
Its more of a philosophical discussion using parts of the historiography of satan in attempt to define evil over a platter of tempting desserts, no doubt brimming with sugar, thus making it a health issue as well.

yeah... I can't imagine the way the books SAY lolth works would lead to cities staying able to sustain themselves.

Mod Note:
Congrats, folks! All that Satan talk - discussing real-world religion, which you ALL KNOW isn't okay on these boards - just got the thread closed.
