D&D General Chris just said why I hate wizard/fighter dynamic

SIDE NOTE:

I watched Dr. Strange this morning since I hadn't seen it in a long time, and watching all the fighting/martial arts they do, I don't think I would really qualify Dr. Strange as a wizard by any means...
On a serious note, I don't see why a wizard or sorcerer couldn't learn martial arts. It's not like you have to be the monk class to learn it.

Nah, he's just a high level wizard in a world with PF2 style level progression. Any high level character, regardless of class, can fight well enough to make an Olympic-level fencer seem slow and untrained.

True, but for a lot of folks, humans are still humans regardless, no matter where they live, and they can't do anything humans in our world can't do without outside help.

To put it another way. It's like being an atheist in the Forgotten Realms. It's a near nonsensical belief.

To paraphrase Terri Pratchett (probably badly): It's hard to not believe in the gods when the gods throw rocks.

He's only a half-caster. You should see the full-caster version!

D&D adventurers should not be mundane people. Period, full stop.
Definitely disagree. Adventures are ordinary people who (choose to) do extraordinary things. The "adventure" is what makes adventures... well, adventurers. ;)

Black Widow and Hawkeye are about where a 5th level martial should be. Calling them high level is a joke. Thor is about where a fighter should be at 11th level.
HOW SH!T!!! What kind of games are YOU PLAYING IN!?!?!

Narrative control. Learn to deal with it. Flavoring a plot coupon as a spell doesnt make it inherently more "realistic".
Unfortunately just about as (or more) people have a massive problem with player narrative control (in D&D at least) as letting martials do non mundane things. Debating it is a whole other issue and likely to add plenty of fuel to this fire!

But again, fundamentally that's an issue of genre.

For some, is it that D&D is it's own genre now, goes to 20th level, and the fighters are left behind and need something?

For others is it that fighters were at the heart of the inspirational literature, and that D&D has lost its way at the high levels?
