When Things Go Awry, Who's to Blame?

CleverNickName

Limit Break Dancing (He/They)
When something goes wrong* in your game, who or what gets blamed?

Me. It's always my fault, somehow. Seriously, I checked.
The Dungeon Master. They're supposed to be in charge, how could they let this happen?
The players. They are always ruining everything. Does everything have to be a combat?
THAT player. We all know the one. (And if you don't know who this player is, I've got some bad news.)
The Core Rules. They can't account for everything, but we sure need them to.
A third-party rules supplement. We should know better than to trust the Internet.
A house rule. We should know better than to trust our DM.
The dice. Random numbers, amirite? Don't trust 'em.
Bad judgment. Haven't you ever heard of "retreat?" Does the word "deescalate" mean anything to you monsters?
Literally anyone or anything else. Wizards of the Coast, the cast of Critical Role, Reddit, the d20 mechanic, kids these days, vape pens, whatever
Nobody/Nothing. lol, nobody really believes this but I'll include it as a joke.

(In case you couldn't tell, this is not intended to be a serious thread. I'm poking fun at myself and people like me: those who are too quick to point fingers, and too slow to take accountability. If you find yourself getting angry and defensive in this thread, you should probably take a break to cool off. Maybe go eat something, and look up the word "irony" in the dictionary.)

The option you want isn't on the list? Tell us about it in the comments!

*this can be anything at all. The party was wiped out with a TPK, the game has become unbalanced, someone rolled up a bard, Kevin ordered pineapple on the pizza, whatever.

I voted for a lot of the answers.

Sometimes it is the DM, they are only human and sometimes make mistakes.

It is always the players. Players are idiots.

Sometimes it is THAT Player because everybody knows THAT Player.

Sometimes the dice are out to get you.

It is always Bad Judgement, unless it is the dice. And in the case the bad judgement is trusting the wrong dice.

Sometimes it is anyone else's fault. Anyone or everyone else's fault.

But one thing is for certain... It is never my fault. 😉

It is said (and probable, but not proven) that The Times once asked various people of literary stature to answer the question, "What's wrong with the world today?" in a few hundred words, and (again, it is said) that GK Chesterton replied:
Dear sirs,
I am.
Yours, G.K. Chesterton.
I will never not find this delightful, even if it ends up not being something he said--because I have no doubt he would have heartily agreed, even if he didn't say it. (And, as noted, it's probable that he did; it doesn't seem to be attributed to anyone else, according to the Society of G.K. Chesterton.)

Why isn't "Justin LaNassa" one of the options?
Too many alternative spellings of his name.
