D&D 5E D&D Summer Hardcover Amazon Placeholder

There's a D&D product placeholder for the summer hardcover up on Amazon. It doesn't say much, but confirms the release date as August 16th. There's some product dimensions there, too -- they match a standard D&D hardcover (except for the 2-inch thickness!) -- and an ISBN (978-0786968169). [Update -- the US version of the placeholder has a price of $69.99.] We'll find out more on Thursday...

We'll find out more on Thursday when the D&D Direct video is released. Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse is on May 17th, and Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel comes out on June 21st.

From previous statements from WotC, we're expecting two classic settings to come back this year, and these will be in a new print format. WotC's Ray Winninger said in June last year that "Each of these products is pursuing a different format you've never seen before. And neither is "digital only;" these are new print formats." Current speculation, based on hints and teasers, is mainly centered around Spelljammer and Dragonlance.

Whilst more MtG settings in the pipeline are certainly possible, I'm pretty sure the Amazon placeholder isn't one, nor is it something that will be announced this week. It would be much further out.

WotC have been busy dropping hints left right and centre, and they all tie either to Spelljammer or the Stormwrack boxed set via the old D&D cartoon.
Probably both. They aren't even being thst subtle.

According to my impromptu measurements, the Starter Set and and Essentials Kit are about 2 inches thick. So I'm betting this listing is for the next Starter Set.

Doesn't mean they're not also about to announce Spelljammer at the Direct, though.

"Dragons of Forgotten Passion," 1200 fully-illustrated pages of Elminster/Raistlin crossover fanfic.
You know that there's ALREADY 100%-official Greenwood-authored Elminster/Dalamar/Mordenkainen swinger party fiction published in a Dragon mag in the 90s, right?

Mordenkainen, being a rather slimy old lech and this all being before the Me Too era, actually laid a trap for his young female apprentices. He left one of his spell libraries unlocked, then when the apprentices flocked in to learn what they could, he forcibly teleported them into the archmages' private party with the clear expectation that they'd be available for 'entertainment', and clearly refusal would likely have career- and life-threatening implications. What a creep. True Neutral my bottom....

Winninger said there were three Classic Settings in the works, two new totally original Settings unrelated to Magic, and a revisit to a Settingfrok 5E in 2024 (probably the FR or Greyhawk, we suppose).

He didn't say there would be no Magic Settings on top of that.
Good thing I didn't say he didn't say that there would be a Magic based setting then huh?

After Morrus mentioned the Radiant Citadel dimensions, I checked the Amazon site and sales for RC book aren’t doing as well as previous adventures. 18th in D&D books isn’t up to the norm we tend to see for other books on Amazon when new releases are announced.
I’ll be dialed in to the live stream to learn what the new release is going to be, gotta set the alarm to remind me though cause of the time frame for it is not something I’ll remember.
