D&D 5E Commander Legends: Battle For Baldur's Gate Huge Leak: Spoiler Alert

Yeah, it's a bit of a theme...but Baldur's Gate characters also happen to be some of the best known IP from D&D, so they fit for a general All-Star Set.

It's a major theme, but again it's likely not absolute, like the Commander of the Mindflayaaars deck is very most likely that Spelljamming Mindflayer Pirate Captain whose trapped in Undermountain.

But the alot, maybe most will be BG related, the vast Majority will be FR related, and a small few key choices will be from broader D&D and only slightly FR related like Strahd.

Already the wiki pages has gotten alot more info.

The lead designer for this set is Corey Bowen, whose been lead before on Commander Decks, but not a full set, but Gavin Verhey is also on the design team and Gavin was lead designer for CBLs Commander Decks, and he personally Designed the Black/White Party Time Deck.

Also interesting to note that this set is alot more Complex then either AFR or Commander Legends 1. It has the Flavour Words, dice rolling & a version of Venture into the Dungeon of AFR, It had Initiative (likely replacing Monarch compared to CL1), Myriad (great way to do organizations), Goad, Party, Adventures (from Eldraine), and Backgrounds (likely replacing Partner, which was spiralling out of control with every new partner), and not all of the mechanics are known (there are multiple new multiplayer key words, we only know of Initiative so far).

This is more complexity then just about any set outside of Modern Horizens or Master Sets.

Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate will likely have even more complexity because it will obviously add in cards with Alchemy mechanics like intensify, seek, spell book, conjure, persistence, although a couple of multiplayer mechanics will be gone (although they may be replaced by something else new).

Baldurs Gate 1-2 are just amazing games. To this day.

They really are.

Then you both should love this set. More leaks have come out. Wilson the Bear, Gorion (he costs lthe same cost of Brokers Charm, yet everytime you cast an adventure, copy it and choose new targets), and Jon Irenticus have been revealed (give an oppenent a creature, it can't be sacrificed, its permanently goaded, and when ever a creature you own, but don't control attacks, draw a card).

Also Choose a Background is confirmed as making a Background a co-Commander.

None BG1&1 Legends include Dwarf Cleric Amber Grist O'Malley from the Drizzt novels in mono red with Choose a Background. Not alot of mono red clerics in MtG so she stands out. Halsin from BG3 (soooo much thirst on the internet for him, even one of BG3's writers commented on it), who is mono green druid with Choose a Background and for 1 mana turn a token creature into a 4/4 Bear, in addition to its other types. Then there is Gut, True Soul Zealot from BG3, that has when he attacks, you can sacrifice a creature or artifact, create a 4/1 Skeleton with menace, tapped and attacking.

There also appears to a cycle of low cost Invoker creature cards of devotes to gods at common that that have an activated ablity with powerful effect for 8 mana.

Some more cool Backgrounds, Veteren Soldier, Noble, and Cultist of the Absolute.

And the first Mythic not from the Commander Decks, Nautiod 4 mana colorless, 5/5 vechile with flying & crew 3, exile a graveyard when it enters the Battle Field, you can put a creature that Nautiliod Ship has exiled onto the battlefield whenever it damages a player.

I can see this being extremely popular, maybe Jewelled Lotus popular. It has an insane amount of possibilities.

I almost forgot the best part, Elminster has been confirmed on am Art card, so no details, don't know if he's a creature or a planeswalker yet.

Also the revealed Invoker cards so far are a Tymora's Invoker Blue Orc Rogue that draws 2 cards for 8 mana, White Bane's Invoker that adds +2/+2 and flying to 2 creatures for 8 mana, Silvanus' Invoker green that for 8 mana turns a land into an 8/8 with haste and trample, Bhaal's Invoker, which is a red Dragon Shaman that for 8 deals 4 damage to two targets.

Given Bhaal's in the set, it makes me wonder if Tymora, Silvanus, and Bane (very likely given he's in Baldur's Gate) are getting creature cards as well with a simular indestructible if your at half life mechanic.

He leaked a new couple of card, Asterion, The Decadent which 1 4BW Vampire Elf Rogue that has Death Touch and Life Gain, and has at your end step choose either food (one oppenent takes damage equal to the damage they took this turn) or foe (gain life equal to the life you gained this turn).

plus theives tools reprint.

I just went to a couple of MtG LGSs and bought a ton of Nymphs, and got a free left over Arena Prerelease code for New Capenna which gave me 6 packs of New Capenna on Arena.

Which confused me because New Capenna isn't on Arena yet, but what I found is it gives me the packs, BUT they are locked until the 28th.

And that also solved the mystery of how Commander Legends: Battle For Baldur's Gate's Prerelease kits would give Arena codes when it's connected Arena set, Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate isn't coming until like a month later in July. Clearly the AH: BG packs from Prerelease kits will be locked until July when AH: BG, so you will get them, but can't open them.
