Fighters are what the arguments are about, but the cause of all arguments and strife is the Wizard.
Augh... I've actually been thinking about making a thread pointing out how much of a problem WIZARDS are (I would like to also include Wizard fans but that seemed gauche so I will abstained from mentionning them).
Still genuinely surprised how low Warlock is.

I've seen numerous people on multiple forums constantly complain about Hexblade and how it "ruins" the game etc. By the way people talk about it, you'd think Hexblade was one of the greatest blights on the game.
That's just 1 build though.
I don't think there was much argument on the ranger and more disagreement on how to implement it (whether to create a new subsystem, enhance the exploration pillar, buff skills, or just buff ranger magic)

It's far different from fighter, wizard, monk, or even warlord and psion discussion.
that's a fair point

Standings Update: Rangers have pulled ahead, and Monks have left Fighters in the dust!

0: Warlords
1: Rangers
2: Monks:
3: Fighters
4: Wizards

Ruins of Symbaroum "updates/buffs" the 5E Fighter a bit by letting them have a choice of three skills from a list composed of Acrobatics, Animal Handling, Athletics, History, Insight, Intimidation, Perception and Survival on character creation.
Their capstone was changed to a Legendary Resistance thing called "Undying Courage" that lets the fighter auto pass a Saving Throw made. (Recharges on any kind of Rest.)
Their Secondary Wind is changed into Battle Wind which, as a reaction, lets you gain temporary HP equal to 2D4+Con Modifier. The Temp HP apply immediately and can also be allowed to soak up some of the damage you just reacted to.

Everything is pretty much the same, aside from the fact that Ruins of Symbaroum allows your subclasses to come online at level 1. Honestly, I think using that version of the 5E Fighter along with the Dragonlance Knights of Solamnia feat and its related ones, would actually fix most of the 5E Fighter issues.

I'm shocked Ranger is so high.
Everyone mostly agrees that the 5e, 3e, and 2e versions are weak and the 4e and 1e version are strong.

The only disagreement is on the whether the should be magic users or if we should wait in vain for an official advanced skill system.

And today is the last day of the poll and....nothing has changed from the last update. So there we go. Other than Warlords, which don't even exist, apparently no class is debated more heavily than....Rangers. Huh.

Followed by Monks, Fighters, and Wizards. Despite repeated grumblings about full caster Bards, at 3.8% of the vote, they are apparently not on most people's radars, and even Warlocks, with their "spam Eldritch Blast all day and occasionally get to cast a real spell" design, are argued a little more than half as often as Wizards.

Of course, that's just on ENWorld, and it only polls the 187 people who voted, so make of this data what you will. Thanks for playing, everyone!

It is interesting, since Paladins are a very powerful class, with a great mix of offensive and defensive abilities, and spellcasting that often flies under the radar of people who are annoyed by spellcasting warriors- since it's too often used primarily to fuel their damage dealing!

So yeah, you'd expect a lot more gripes, especially since there's not alignment restrictions and even breaking their Oath doesn't really do much of anything by default! Paladin arguments used to be common and violent!

But instead, apparently, there's enough other flashpoints to discuss that the Paladin skates on by, ignoring any patches of thin ice.
