You were literally saying religion (at least in a D&D world) is slavery and trying to equate a Halfling holding a lute with the previously-enslaved monkey people doing a Minstrel Show-like pose. And we are back to "everyone who does not see things my way argues in bad faith and must be banned".
Holy mother forking shirtballs. Are you seriously accusing people that don't agree with you of being racist? Equating black people with apes/monkeys has been a core part of white supremacist propaganda for literal centuries. That's what we're trying to avoid.Yes they are not real. They are not even humans, not even close. Some people don't automatically equate black people to being the same as monkeys and can see a fictional animal inspired species as exactly that and nothing more.
It's a "white savior" type of story. That's the problem. And killing the guy who uplifted them and then doing their own thing is plenty of free will. Even more than worshipping your creator which most species in D&D do.
You mean, once people told you what you have to see.
Actually the Nentir Vale is pretty well regarded even by people who hate 4e.They tried that once, with 4e, and the fans emphatically rejected it.
Sounds to me like this is just people looking for something to complain about.
Completely missed that was back with dwarves and I remember folks having a bit of issue with Tremorsense despite the fact that it just seems a fun oneIt’s not Tremorsense that’s a problem for dwarves (in fact, I think that’s awesome). It’s that they all have proficiency with one of a few sets of artisan’s tools.
We were all just too busy ranting about how awful the halfling art was in general to focus on specifics.I must have missed all those minstrel accusations when the core book with this halfling image came out.
Sometimes someone with a lute is just a iconic bard.
Which is exactly the problem. It clearly demonstrates that despite saying they’re aiming to be more diverse and inclusive, evidently “everyone involved” didn’t include any people of color (or if it did they weren’t listened to).Pretty sure both the lore and art is just a coincidence that paints a bad picture. Like pretty sure everyone involved in the art did not know the minstrel thing was even a thing.
If you look for a problem chances are you will find one.
Yeah,, I'm in favor of making it always-on tremorsense while on stone or earth , but with a range of only 20 feet. Drop the tool proficiency and add some sort of Stand Your Ground type effect like using your reaction to neutralize forces movement or prone PB/day.Completely missed that was back with dwarves and I remember folks having a bit of issue with Tremorsense despite the fact that it just seems a fun one
Yeah, artisan's tools is def on the 'stick it in backgrounds' level
