It's super power is being forgettable :p I dunno why it's being upvoted? It's like a handful of turns of advantage, some ribbon proficiencies and then... some other feature that never made an impact on me?
I think it has some decent features and does an okay job of being a "samurai" as defined by WotC. It can shine with the at will advantage for some builds. A player at my table did the ranged Elven Accuracy + Sharpshooter build and it did kick butt as much as we thought it would. Watching someone drop nearly 80 damage in a round at level 6 never gets old.

Well it's comforting to know that it's effective, at least. It's likely to win this whole thing at the moment. I'll have to take a closer look at it, maybe take it for a test drive.

Part of it is that it's inoffensive. Most Fighter subclasses have some reason people dislike them. E.g., PDK was very clearly supposed to be a "Warlord-like Fighter" and it failed pretty miserably at that, while also being really weak overall, so it doesn't have a lot of people speaking in its favor and has people with a vested interest in taking it down. The psi warrior is psionic, and that draws hate almost as much as The Edition That Must Not Be Named. Etc. Samurai...doesn't do anything egregiously wrong. It doesn't get talked up as being a problem, it's a relatively mundane option with acceptable features. It doesn't stand out boldly, but it does most things a Fighter--and a Samurai--should do without much fuss. I haven't played one myself, but I'd be tempted to if I really needed to play a Fighter.

We've heard lots of cross-talk about the Battle Master and the Eldritch Knight, and petitions to downvote one or the other from their fans...but what about the Samurai?

This fella has persisted into the Top Seven, but it's barely been mentioned at all in the discussions. I've never played one myself, so I'm a neutral party. What do you think is keeping the Samurai on the list? What does the Samurai do better than the other previously-eliminated options?
It's a simple fighter that does what players are looking for - a shed-load of damage. A bit boring for my taste, but it can be pretty strong. I don't think it's getting many up-votes, it's just not being down-voted because people don't hate it.
