D&D 5E Abjurations Spells? Not Enough? Where should I look?

So I have a player in one of my games playing a multiclassed dwarf Eldritch Knight / Wizard, who just hit 2nd level wizard and wants to take Abjuration as his specialty, as it makes sense to his vision of the character, but is not happy with the number of abjuration spells. I agreed and told him him I'd open up the list to include spells from other books (we mostly stick to the core books with spells from other books only being found in-game and cannot be chosen as you go up in level). However, looking through Xanathar's, Tasha's, and Fizban's I found only three or four more abjuration spells.

So I guess my question is, is there some source of abjuration wizard spells I am missing? Or some source I should look into (3rd party is fine)?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you open to homebrews? If so, I got you.

EDIT: Many are homebrewed conversions of earlier edition spells. This includes all schools, but hasn't been updated to account for the artificer yet.

I'll definitely take a look because looking at previous editions was my next step.

All the healing spells (Cure Wounds, Healing Word) have just been made Abjuration in the latest playtest. I've always wanted them to be Necromancy, but Abjuration is certainly an improvement.

A house-rule we use is Wizards of the different schools can learn their school spells from any spell list... which would just about double the selection for Abjuration spells.

Compared to previous editions, 5e doesn't have a ton of spells. Deep Magic by Kobold Press, or the Book of Lost Spells by Necromancer Games might be good options to expand the spell lists.

I'm looking at D&D Beyond, and I count 30 Abjuration spells from level 0 to 9 that Wizards get access to. These are all of the official ones from throughout 5e:

Cantrips:

Blade Ward (PHB)

1st-Level Spells:

Absorb Elements (Xanathar's Guide to Everything)
Alarm (PHB)
Mage Armor (PHB)
Protection from Evil and Good (PHB)
Shield (PHB)
Snare (Xanathar's Guide to Everything)

2nd-Level Spells:

Arcane Lock (PHB)

3rd-Level Spells:

Counterspell (PHB)
Dispel Magic (PHB)
Glyph of Warding (PHB)
Intellect Fortress (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything)
Magic Circle (PHB)
Nondetection (PHB)
Protection from Energy (PHB)
Remove Curse (PHB)

4th-Level Spells:

Banishment (PHB)
Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum (PHB)
Stoneskin (PHB)

5th-Level Spells:

Planar Binding (PHB)

6th-Level Spells:

Fizban's Platinum Shield (Fizban's Treasury of Dragons)
Globe of Invulnerability (PHB)
Guards and Wards (PHB)

7th-Level Spells:

Symbol (PHB)

8th-Level Spells:

Antimagic Field (PHB)
Mind Blank (PHB)

9th-Level Spells:

Imprisonment (PHB)
Invulnerability (Xanathar's Guide to Everything)
Prismatic Wall (PHB)

There are also other "protection" spells that aren't listed as abjuration spells for some reason, like the "Wall" spells (Wall of Force, Wall of Sand, Wall of Ice, etc) and the Investiture spells from Xanathar's/Elemental Evil that kind of fit the theme of protection/warding.

Abjuration does really get the short end of the stick, in terms of number of spells. Iv'e been pondering a halfling abjurer for an upcoming campaign, and i was looking through the available spells. First level there's some good options, and third level isn't too bad even though most options are pretty specialised, but jeez, second level is rough. By my count there's 37 2nd level wizard spells in the PHB, Xanathar's and Tasha's. Of those, ONE is abjuration. And it's Arcane Lock - which ain't exactly something your low level wizard is going to find useful in most encounters.

I suspect part of the reason for this is if there's loads of good low-level abjurations, the abjurer's ward subclass feature scales up in power and utility accordingly.

If you have access to D&D Beyond, try looking ta the homebrew materials there. Sorting by most views and most adds will help identify ideas and approaches that work a bit better than some of the horribly out of balance options.

I agree they are better as necromancy (back in 2E and 3E days we used to split necro spells into white, gray, and black necromancy), but even if I wanted to make them abjuration, I don't want wizards to have access to healing spells. Though that reminds me of some cool wizard-based healing spells "with a catch" from an old issue of Dragon that I may take the time to convert (though those were also necromancy).
