For those who actually want an answer, you can check out his LinkedIn.

Short answer, “Director of Game Design” in Magic since 2020
That was already pointed out way back in post #24.

The truth never stopped a "good" argument!

EDIT: @Baumi Yes is the answer to your question. In case you missed the two posts (post #24 & #62) in that didn't mention you.

There was a controversy a few years ago that lead to him being removed from public-facing positions. Last I heard he has a position in the Magic department these days.
As I understood the situation, it was a result of naïvete on Mearls' part. A relatively high-profile person with a peripheral consulting role on 5e was accused of various things, and Mearls forwarded those accusations to the person in question asking what was up with that, which then exposed the accuser to retaliation from the accused.
I have tried and tried and tried to find anything that backs this story up, and every time, it just leads back to the original post accusing him, which (IIRC) is not from anyone involved in the story. I'm not saying it isn't true, I'm saying that I am very dubious about it. I give it the same credence as the whole "I don't give Facebook permission to use my pictures" copypasta.

I think a lot of that went down on Google+ and as such isn't available anymore. This is one of the more concrete things I've seen about Mearls being dismissive of the accusations.

You do not recall correctly. The original tweet was from Olivia Hill, one of the people named in the alleged emails (though under her deadname), and target of a harassment campaign by Zak S prior to Mearls’ involvement.

In the absence of hard evidence, we have only Hill’s word and Mearls’. And as far as I know, Mearls has never even denied Hill’s claims. I see no reason not to believe Hill.
